    n00b here... fresh meat!

Hey guys, this is my first time joining a BMW forum, and I think I'm gonna like it here. I have belonged to probably over 10 car forums... Hondas, 240sx, G20s, Miatas, Escort GTs, and even turbo Dodges.

I'm 24 and I am on my 9th car so far. It's a 2001 Miata, and it's hella fun to drive. Don't worry, I won't be getting rid of it. It's my daily driver and autocrosser. I've got some adjustable shocks, stiffer sways, and some Azenis for the track.

Anyways, I've always wanted an E30. A friend of mine built a twin-turbo setup on his 1987 325is. That thing was wicked. It wasn't even tuned, and it was still awesome.

Recently I came across a 1989 325i sedan, 5-speed. It's at a local auction at a tow yard where a friend of mine works. They sell the cars when people don't pay their bill after just a few weeks. It only has 104k miles, and the interior and body are in awesome shape. It could use a repaint though. Anyways, I am goingto the auction on monday, so I thought I'd pop on here and get to learnin'!

I only have one question, and i could probably use the search function, but i was hoping I could get one free pass (don't worry, it's an easy question).... Is it possible this 325i has LSD, or did that only come on the 325is? If so, is there an easy way I could detect that before buying it?

Anyways, I really hope I get the car. I have always wanted an E30. I am sure most of you will agree, it's one of those cars where "newer models" aren't necessarily better. There's just something about its dimensions... its simple yet sporting contours... that has stood the test of time.

It can have an lsd as an option but i wouldn't count on it.

welcome, an yes LSD was an option but I would not count on it. guess I was luck the last 2 I's Ive had both had LSD's. But any way they swap out easy enough and they are for sale all the time for a 2-300 bucks you can get a good low mileage 1

yeah I think I want to cut my teeth on this one and then get a 325is coupe someday. But, if it's been wel-maintained, 104k miles is gonna be hard to part with.

What's the price and interior / exterior like ?

Jack the rear of the car up and spin the wheels, you'll know if it's got lsd or not.

P.S. I was debating on buying a 2nd gen miata for autocross, but my region is full of them as it is..... they are damn fast in csp when prepped to the teeth.

                              Hey Squirrel, welcome to R3V.

LDS? E30s do not have mormons.

Er, sorry. You said LSD. Grab a flashlight and a rag. Crawl under the ass end of the car, find the little metal tag hanging off the diff. If it says "S", all is good. If not, plan on spending somewhere around $200 to find a decent one.

LSD on an "i" is not all that common, but hope for the best.
