    mt baker autox (horrible pics)

it was absolutely beautiful up there and quite a bit of fun, but the person I recruited to snap some pictures for me had some difficulty with my camera. these are almost not even worth posting, but it was fun and it gives you an idea of how nice it was up there:

The last one was a good picture except it was totally blurry, I tried my best to save it. in one of the later pics you can see my car leaning pretty bad, the corner was off camber though (and there was a 100ft drop off on the other side!), but I still want a rear swaybar.

last time I took 2nd in the novice class (against like 50 entries), but this course was much shorter (31-40 seconds) so the launch and acceleration from a stop was very important, my granny tranny basically killed my times. I was always 2 seconds behind the other E30s, whereas last time I had similar times to them. next summer...

yeah.. it really wasn't as bad as it looked, the whole course was on a slope and most of the turns were off camber. the FWD cars that had setup suspensions drove mostly on 3 wheels 8)

I'm thinking about just going for the IE swaybar kit.. I know I know, it's too big (22mm). but I think it might be perfect for an ix, and for $250 it comes with everything. otherwise it's the ST 19mm bar, which would still be cool.

you need a splitter so your front end will stick better, will help with that understeer :P

The autox was great Chris, I got about 25 pics of different cars if you want to host them. It was the first time I had used the camera outdoors so the color is a bit washed out but otherwise most are pretty good.

It's an iX what did you expect? I'm glad you went out and tore em up, but they were never know for stunning performance, and when grouped with an iS the iS should come out ahead due to weight alone.

Use it as a bench mark and work on becoming a smoother driver if anything. Speed on tight courses is wasted, transitions and smooth flow. Glad you had fun.

actually, I wasn't understeering at all on that corner. ;)

there was an especially tight leaner cone (180 degree turn) that gave me trouble, but other than the little sprites and miatas, most everyone else had the same problem. I could have used a few more lbs of pressure on my left front tire, but I ended up just slowing down enough so I wasn't driving on my sidewall :P
