I don't know about your area, but here in the Baltimore area, we have had a large number of catalytic converter thefts. They ride the metro out to the suburbs, use portable recips to cut the cats off in the parking lots, then hop on the metro back down to the city. We call the metro the "rob-and-ride".
eBay could believe that this is possibly stolen. I would re-list it and specifically exclude anything about being re-cycled.
But I don't know, eBay's excuse seems to contradict my reasoning.
WTF ebay ?

Must be a glitch because it is totally fine to sell it like you have described.Leave a comment:

WTF ebay ?
I put my old catalytic converter on ebay and it got deleted five days into the auction.
I put it in the section:In the auction body went like this:Business & Industrial > Manufacturing & Metalworking > Metals & Alloys > Other Metals
Used BMW catalytic converter SCRAP RECYCLING ONLY
Why the hell did they delete my posting? This pisses me off. What did I do wrong?
This auction is for a catalytic converter coming off of a 1988 BMW 325iS. The ends will be cut off so it will be unusable except for scrap. It will ship the Monday following the auction via USPS.
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has informed us that it is a violation of government regulation to install a used converter from a salvage yard or sell it for reuse unless it has been properly tested and labeled. Similarly it is a violation to install an untested used converter, even if the customer insists that the used converter came off his/her vehicle.Tags: None
