    Painting rims?

I'm going to paint my stock rims flat black, I'm only going to have them another month or so so I just wanna spice it up...

Is this a good DIY to follow:

If you're only keeping them for a month, I would just wetsand off the clear coat as best you can and paint, you don't need to primer them, unless you're stripping them bare. This will easily last a while. I painted my weaves without even sanding them, and it lasted for the year that I had them without chipping.

to be honest, if your keeping them for only a month, just clean them with soap and water then go to walmart and buy $.99 flat black. you will be alright. personally its a waste of time and money for 1 month

I think that wallmart flat black is even cheaper than $.99, and it will turn gray very quickly in the sun. I dont know what kind of paint you should use, but something designed for outdoors or metal would be a lot better than cheap generic spray paint.

I'd clean them as well as you can, take a piece of scotchbrite to them, mask them and fire away.

duplicolor trim black would look pretty sweet and hold up well to the elements.

That evo write up was nice but come on, he didn't even remove the tires.

Why would you go through the trouble of removing the tires if you are SPRAY PAINTING your BOTTLECAPS!?

                    Bottlecaps don't get enough love.

that's because the cost of removing and remounting tires on a set of bottlecaps exceeds the value of the wheels..

I used VHT, but you might want to go with Duplicolor. I like the color of the VHT, but that doesn't matter for black, and duplicolor is thinner, so it goes on better, and doesn't get clogged.

I'm actually redoing one of my wheels right now, the pink vinyl ripped off some of it...:(

Someone had some great pics of their painted bottlecaps recently. They masked off the spokes and lip and it looked awesome. I'll see if I can find it.

I also used Duplicolor on my old Subaru wheels. Worked great.
