You should add a spacer that brings you down to ET 30 mm or lower, if you're talking about stock iX wheels you need a thick spacer because they have ET 47 mm or something, don't remember the exact number. It varies a little, an example I heard about was someone who ran ET35 wheels on his 325i and had to use a 10 mm spacer to clear the struts in the front, in the back it's less critical.

stock ix wheels are ET41. unless you get them dirt cheap, I'd get something else. you're going to spend $200 on spacers, when you can fit Ronal LS on your car for ~$600 (still on sale I think) which are wider and sit close to the fender and have waaay more lip. I went with euro weaves on my ix because of the differences in offset, spoke shape and lip depth (although the lip isn't exactly huge on euro weaves either).

you SAI will be off now with the incorrect offset.... not too big of a deal, but .....
caster change on turning will be altered as well as camber.... your tires will have more of a load on the inside while turning and the outside of the tire will scrub...... causing the tires to feather....
most likley you wont have a problem with it tho

yeah.. I don't think running an ET24 rim on the ix is going to hurt any more than running an ET20 wheel on any other E30. Actually I had ET20 16x7.5" wheels on my ix when I first got it. :)
