your grabbin at straws now, weve seen it before, you run out of good arguments in your favor and must lower yourself to petty insults, you are not alone in this path, many have fallen before you

in its current state it doesnt look good, but i think if you finish it up well it could, give it some good paint, that front bumper looks like its in pretty bad shape, the reason people are upset is not because of the cost of the part you ruined but of the dwindling numbers of remaining originals. this use would have been better suited for a replica. having said that if you truly had the automotive skill you claim to have you would have found a way around hacking rare euro parts into bits and would have ended up with a much cleaner looking car rather than a halfassed mounting.

also may i suggest getting a z3 2.8 steering rack as the one you have now is several turns lock to lock, you may as well make it handle better if your spending all this time and money on the engine

Yep. This is getting weak. It's now a "I think I have more money than strangers" thread.

BTW - your hacked valence and irish flares do not make your shit pile a mtech.

should be interesting to see exactly how long that intercooler lasts, if freaking pebbles can break the thick ass glass on the foglights im pretty sure that they can do some damage to that thing

oooh, i'll look in to that rack. I figured there was a higher ratio rack. thanks.

however. I have the skill to put the IC behind the bumper. I have the capacity to do anything i want, if i choose. but i don't want to. I like it the way it is.

Also, I am such an idiot for thinking that the likelihood of a stone punching through the intercooler core isn't that much different than if the bottom of it was covered with part of the bumper! I forgot about the magical stone deflecting force field that is generated when you cover the bottom of your intercooler with polyurethane!

norb, you should have put a WRX scoop on the hood and have a top mounted IC!!! And have an ethanol injection system which fogs the driver's compartment!

Once it's painted it won't even look that obscene. Unless you paint it bassboat green or something.

agreed. The end tanks will probably be body color, with a black center.

it's actually going to be a BMW z4 color.

i am always open to being wrong. it just usually doesn't happen.

i really do like the way it looks. no shitting here.

HOWEVER, i'd like to point out that the intercooler DOES fit entirely behind the original USDM bumper and IS valence, which i have. When the car was being built, this was a legitimate concern. However, when i made the late-in-the-game decision to switch to mtech stuff, i was in no mood to remake my radiator, IC piping, IC mounting, etc etc etc.

Again, I am happy with the current results.

When i paint the car, for shits and giggles, i MAY paint the usdm stuff... if at some point i want to go with a more stealth look.

However, I think a lot of people hating on it honestly just don't have the completed vision of the project. when the splitter is on and the car is painted with body color endtanks, i genuinely believe that a lot of minds will change....

there is a strong relationship between webbing and work. sarcasm and heavy posting are directly proportional to how much distraction i need whilst at work. :)

just read through your thread on the lotus page and i must say im rather impressed with it, you seem to know what you are doing for the most part. i cant say that i think a nissan motor belongs in a bmw being a bit of a purist myself but you do know your way around a machine shop. though, and i hate to lower myself with personal attacks, but you do look and act like a pompous emo douche bag, stop wearing girls pants. as i was reading through my thoughts were as follows, because everyone wants to know, think of it as a highlight real for those of you who dont wanna read the other thread:

                              1) i didnt really know what you were doing to the oil pan so i figure you were removing the front drive portions
                              2) that is one beat to hell e30 at least itll have a new life
                              3) the BMP kit fits like absolute shit dont do it
                              4) get a different steering rack
                              5) 3/4" plywood flex-i-shim is a good idea
                              6) i hope he doesnt plan to use that differential
                              7) he said he wanted to lessen the moment on the crossmember yet he is only adding another mount to a different point on the xmember when the frame rail is right there
                              8) standing through the floor, thats a first for the e30 community
                              9) god damn that is a huge tranny
                              10) mounting the tranny to the floor pan... there are frame rails right there, bracing them together might even strengthen the car
                              11) transfer case seems very well machined to me, someone else mentioned earlier that it made them nervous, as long as the guts on the part that was kept were not altered i see no issue with it
                              12) what is this orange crap why doesnt he use por 15
                              13) those headers are sick
                              14) i like the wheels
                              15) exhaust through the blower motor hole... thats fucking stupid
                              16) i wonder how mad blunt would be if he saw his car in this thread
                              17) what a nasty shade of baby shit green
                              18) oh right hes gonna cover up the blower motor hole with his new tunnel... i hope hes got some good heat sheilding
                              19) ... no passenger seat is fitting in there
                              20) you could save some weight taking out the entire sunroof assembly and welding in a panel
                              21) ugly headliner
                              22) oh good he changed his motor mounts
                              23) 2 of 3 cars are pretty cool
                              24) sweet belt douchebag
                              25) por15 ... called it
                              26) seam welding thats a good idea... why hasnt anyone else done that
                              27) ^ see my last post for thoughts on the mtech

also itll look better if the intercooler fins were black imo, more subtle
                              sorry for the long post

                                1) i didnt really know what you were doing to the oil pan so i figure you were removing the front drive portions - correct. there is a front differential in the rb26 oilpan, which i no longer need. you can use an rb25 oil pan, but i like the baffling/sump design of the rb26 and the strength of cast alum over stamped steel

                                2) that is one beat to hell e30 at least itll have a new life - it really wasn't that bad. Everything always looks a lot worse in pictures. Could i have started with a cleaner shell? definitely. But at the time, it was supposed to be a small, quick, cheap project, that turned into what it is. Such is life. It's nice to know that i learned something about restoring cars, in case i ever want to bastardize something like a 68 mustang. (true story: WAYYY before F&F3, i spoke of putting a skyline motor i an old mustang fast back... but they beat me too it, and ruined the coolness... but i'd really like to put something else in that enginebay... maybe the new 335 motor...???)

                                3) the BMP kit fits like absolute shit dont do it - i try and stay away from fiberglass bodykits. I am glad i did.

                                4) get a different steering rack - looking in to it. thanks for the advice

                                5) 3/4" plywood flex-i-shim is a good idea - thanks. it worked out perfectly.

                                6) i hope he doesnt plan to use that differential - i got an m3 4.10. I hope it holds. The stock GTR rear end is 4.11 If i run in to problems with it breaking, i will cross that bridge when i come to it...

                                7) he said he wanted to lessen the moment on the crossmember yet he is only adding another mount to a different point on the xmember when the frame rail is right there - yeah, though i am still debating making aux block mounts that tie in to the stock xmember... we'll see

8 ) standing through the floor, thats a first for the e30 community - willats wissoop

                                9) god damn that is a huge tranny - you're telling me...

                                10) mounting the tranny to the floor pan... there are frame rails right there, bracing them together might even strengthen the car - the trans xmember ties into some of the original trans xmember mounts, it picks up the floor points for longitudinal stability, but the forces will be small.

                                11) transfer case seems very well machined to me, someone else mentioned earlier that it made them nervous, as long as the guts on the part that was kept were not altered i see no issue with it - machining off the tx case won't be a big deal, what i've replaced it with will be sufficient

                                12) what is this orange crap why doesnt he use por 15 - por15 does rule

                                13) those headers are sick - thanks... i was thinking about making and selling e36 top mount manifolds, because we are making one for my friends turbo 328

                                14) i like the wheels - again, thanks... they took FOREVER to get... i really really really hope that they fit well...

                                15) exhaust through the blower motor hole... thats fucking stupid you covered this later

                                16) i wonder how mad blunt would be if he saw his car in this thread - who is blunt?

                                17) what a nasty shade of baby shit green - there is either a great love or a great hate for the color. i am a big fan of it...

18 ) oh right hes gonna cover up the blower motor hole with his new tunnel... i hope hes got some good heat sheilding - i do... but also keep in mind that the exhaust is really not much closer to the passenger's feet than if it ran right under the floor... it's just in a different spot

                                19) ... no passenger seat is fitting in there - it's a bitch. this wek i actually have to slightly notch the tunnel i built... i originally fit a seat in there, just way to the rear... but when the cage was built, they were not installed... when i got the car back from vito's shop, the seats no longer fit. drat... i have it covered though...

                                20) you could save some weight taking out the entire sunroof assembly and welding in a panel - i removed the entire assembly. the only thing that remains is the exterior panel. it's only 18gauge and it's reinforced. only weighs a few pounds.

                                21) ugly headliner - personal taste. the interior will be entirely unfinished this year anyway, as my concern is getting it roadworthy, then driving it.

                                22) oh good he changed his motor mounts - word, but as mentioned earlier... i'd like to put some of the force BACK into the xmember...

                                23) 2 of 3 cars are pretty coold does this mean cool? if so... what ones?

                                24) sweet belt douchebag - this has to be the bullet belt. i don't wear it much anymore, but i still think it's B.A. it's both extremely heavy and sharp

                                25) por15 ... called it - you got it. the "rust destroyer" as it was called was only temporary, and cheap...

                                26) seam welding thats a good idea... why hasnt anyone else done that - seam welding a chassis is a VERY good thing to do... why people don't do it? because it's a WHORE to get all the undercoating off... an absolute nightmare.

                                27) ^ see my last post for thoughts on the mtech
