your oil cooler isnt really going to effect your operating temperatures that much. i highly doubt you have a problem. stop thinking that because you have an oil cooler the car is going to really run cooler.

No leak, no fix. Why try to fix something that aint broken?

Very true under normal operating conditions. ETAs work fine w/o them.

Yea, your 20 year old 170hp engine really never needed one to begin with, hell new Corvettes don't even have them.

Ya, I've realized that this might not be the a problem but regardless I will straiten it and paint it white.

          Thanks for this DIY btw...

Good plan, it going behind a white lip? Post up a pic, I painted mine black because I thought white would just make it look like bad overspray from the lip.

White will get dingy quick. Go silver. It will make it look like an aftermarket update. And don't corvettes have aluminum blocks which would dissipate heat a lot better than an iron block thus eliminating the need for a supplemental cooler?

Yes, and massive amounts of r&d regarding airflow and the engine compartment.

Biggest thing with the Corvette was the tradeoff between installing an oil cooler which adds weight, complexity, possible leak points, cost, etc. vs. how many customers would actually benefit from its inclusion. Solution? Factory fill of Mobil 1 synthetic. That way the customers that do track their car will be OK should oil temps climb above 300 deg, and the vast majority will benefit from the omission of the oil cooler's downsides.

Corvettes with the "Track-Pack" option DO have the oil cooler added.
