You're supposed to jump from the hood.

Red to jump terminal, black to engine block.

Break a side window. They're plentiful and cheap.

Why not remove the windshield? Pops out of the seal in a matter of minutes and you can just stick it back in when you're done. My friend has done it twice now when he's locked his keys in his e30.

Though you pretty much need a second person..

Have you ever tried to break a window? I swung a standard hammer at full force at a parts car side rear window and it didn't break.
(I think I was working on getting at the heater core - so you can imagine how hard I swung the hammer)

Yea, but that is not as fun as seeing the strand person looking at you like you are bat shit insane when you go to jump them and reverse up to their front bumper.

True, but you also look like you have magical powers when you hook the jumper cable up to a random bolt under your hood where there's no battery at all and your car starts. It's all in the presentation though. You need to play the part...
