i just came back from the dealer and im pretty sold on the ms3, i checked out si's, s2000's, gti's, wrx's, and even rsx type s' and they all wanted more than just the asking price on the ms3.

i'll be heading back at the end of the month to get the price that i want on the car.

Glad to hear it Jesse, they're a sweet car.

Pontiacs are the lamest cars imaginable. (solstice is cool tho)

That said, I really love the styling of the Mazda 3 and I'm glad they made a hotrod.
Not that I care, of course.

My friend owns one and it's an absolutely an amazing car. It is definitely one of the only current FWD cars I would purchase. However, I think the biggest issue with traction through 1st and 2nd though are the shitty tires that come on it stock. They're definitely not much of a "drag" car but are an absolute highway monster. It'll keep up with a stock STi, and walk all over 350z's, e36 m3's, previous gen Mcoupes, etc. Plus, most people don't know what they are(especially since my friend debadged his) and it's funny to see the look on peoples faces when they get blown out of the water.

M coupes enjoy diplomatic immunity though. Everybody just recognizes their badassitude.

The boost cut could even be as simple as a micro switch that is triggered by the gear levers position in 1 and 2.

i think with mild some mild tuning it would be putting down around 240-250 at the wheels. i just want the car to be fast enough to keep me entertained. cause i still need to throw my money into the e30 and finish that up.

Yeah those things are petty quick. My buddy was on the freeway and one was coming up on him in his E30 which is fairly quick, so my friend dropped to 3rd and kinda evened things out but then the MS3 dropped gears as well and blew him the fuck away.

I would like them a bit more if they had the power going to the right place. FWD cars just aren't any fun. I would have more respect for a lot of them if they were RWD. Even the ones that sounds like they are running on 2 cylinders when they down shift.(srt4)

Thanks for posting that link. Interesting results, especially vs. the 350z. I know the Z is down on HP/weight ratio, but I didn't expect it to disappear quite so easily.

Also its a hatchback so i have plenty of room to just throw stuff in the back and head out for a weekend trip (I tend to travel a lot). It seems like it does pretty well on gas for sport compact and has a pretty decent after market even though the extent of modifications would be just some more attractive wheels/tires, turbo back exhaust and lowering springs.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any thoughts at all on this car.

Will you be financing said Speed3?

If the answer to the above question even remotely resembles a "Yes", then I would have to say that you may find more practical solutions for a daily/hauler/tripper. Nothing worse than being young (which I assume you are) and bogged down with interest and payments.

If an attraction to WWD should persist, perhaps some consideration for the Focus SVT should be in order. Eager chassis, two or four door hatch, smaller price tag, little less grunt.

Good luck to you in whatever you choose.

yes i will be financing it, i am young but i have a good job and make a decent chunk of change. i really would not be considering taking on a car payment unless i was in a stable enough situation to afford one.

and the focus just doesnt do much for me. i've never been a big fan of the oval.

i dont see why everyone is so opposed to a fwd car, granted its not best for spirited driving but im looking into this car as something i wont get bored of in the first month, its not going to be a track rat. thats why i have the e30 :)

i wasn't impressed with the 350z, i test drove one a few months ago and really the only thing i liked was the braking. That car needs more torque to be exciting.
