Downsides of convertibles?

Mine doesn't leak or squeak, (although I do need to adjust my passenger side window as it rattles a bit when it's all the way up and the top is down) and with the windows up at 70 MPH and the top down, I can talk on my cell phone and the person on the other end thinks I'm talking to them from my home and not from on the freeway with the top down it's so quiet.
Very little wind buffeting with the top down and windows up at highway speed.
Below 40 MPH or so, windows down, top down, very little wind buffeting.
If you want quiet, buy a Cadillac.
Top down driving kicks ass, and if you take care of your interior, it won't wear out or fade any faster then a coupe.
I've had both an E30 coupe and a Cabrio and the Cabrio is a way more fun car and chicks dig it.
And yes, you can put an "is" air dam on it. I have one sanded and primered and I'm going to finish it up this Spring and bolt it on.
Other Cabby owner's on the forum have done the same.
BTW, my shock mounts are fine. Of course, I only have 116K on the car though and my rear plastic window is nice and clear.
Again, it depends on how well the car was taken care of by the PO
Also, I believe the front windshield frame has some type of integrated roll bar, or maybe that was my Corvette. I can't remember, but I don't plan on rolling my car anytime soon.
But I've owned both a coupe and cabrio, and I'll take the cabrio any day, even when it's raining as mine doesn't leak a drop.
I bet more coupes with their broken/clogged sunroof drain tubes leak water into the rear floor area have more water leaking problems then Cabby's.Leave a comment:

If you are gay, you are gay regarless even if you do not own a cabrio, if people think that you are gay because you drive a cabrio, i guess i am double gay due to i have two, but i also have a wife and beatifull children, i recomend that if you think that only gay guys own convertible you go and get yourself one for thinking that way and being insecure about yourself.Leave a comment:

One thing that bothers me about verts is the lower bumper, and how the driving lamps look. Is there anyway I could put the regular iS valance on?Leave a comment:

They say the hardest part of owning a cabrio is telling your parents that you're gay.Leave a comment:

I have an IX for winter and two convertible to cruise in the spring/summer its so much fun that you forget about the nagative which in my opinion there are non, convertible are not for everybody, if you worry about the leaks, squeaks, and body tweaks you will never get one, just get it and enjoy it.

I miss the shit out of my cabby, though I wouldn't own one without a hard top car to use during the winter and for road trips. I wish I would have sold the 5er rather than her.
If you're worried about looking like an "80's yuppie fag," just drop the car.
The chicks also loved it. My girlfriend said it was so cute that it was like reverse compensation. My car was bad-ass though... because of the m50 swap with what might as well have been streight-through exhaust. Sounded mean.

If you're going to keep your coupe, and you don't mind fixing a few things here and there, I'd say go for it!

^ comments like that are making me re-think my idea of selling the coupe once I finish building the 'vert.....Leave a comment:

The only time I liked mine was on really sunny day drives and when the hardtop was bolted down. I'd never own another without the hardtop. I'm MUCH happier with my coupe though.Leave a comment:

I love mine, though I've only driven it in the summer so far. Mine doesn't squeak or rattle half as much as my coupe, though.Leave a comment:
