yes it clears fine. theres maybe 3/16" between the plate and the pan. when i hit the brick the plate actually made the slightest contact with the pan. i was driving with my dad on the way to the track talking to him and not paying enough attn when i saw the brick. nowhere to go, i just hit the fucker. it was a violent hit and i pulled over immediately. it just has some concrete dust on the skid plate and not a mark or dent at all. it lifted my car as it went over it just enough to feel it raise. they are really stout.

If you have a swapped car and you're not running one of these, you're crazy! I bounced off a manhole cover when I had my car that would have surely taken out the E34 pan...

Fuck, I didn't realize this would clear the 24v pan! Now I MUST order one.

For the record though guys, the 666 plate is very nice and does its job well. I have one on my 85/

And neither do I! But as blunt said sometimes there's shit in the road [on an unexpected surface change or dip] and it's better to be safe than sorry!

There are 2 versions of the factory plate. I think the style I used to have and is now on Ben's car, is NLA.

The plate that I have pictured on my old car mounts at 4 points. 2 on the subframe and 2 on the unibody.

The plate I have waiting to go on my current E30 is different. It looks as if it mounts to the subframe and then the front core support.

This is the best pic I have right now. What you see is the curved portion on the front of the skidplate. You can sort of see the mounting points that attach to the core support.

Yup, stuff happens. My manhole experience was on a club drive in Wisconsin. I came down a hill and my suspension compressed just enough at the bottom that I struck the manhole in a section of pavement that had heaved up. I never saw it coming until it was too late.

Skid plate is the only thing keeping me from going lower.
