Couldn't be me if you were looking at a guy in an E30, 'cause mine has been at CMW for seven or eight weeks now. I do tend to stare at nice E30s, though. :- )

Thanks, man. The car will definitely cool, but I'll still be a middle-aged dork. Not that this is a crisis-mobile, as dumping cash into a car only propeller-head dudes would understand doesn't do much for the general female population. Fortunately, my wife doesn't mind me scouring the internet for parts, information, and comaraderie amongst other propeller-head dudes. ;- )

Hey, your sig line reminded me of something. Of the people we know with X5s, they've all ended in divorce with the ex-wife still driving the X5. That's why I call these cars, or trucks, whatever they are... get this...

Not a lot has happened lately, but here we go. A little more has happened on the motor. I can see the wastegate is on, the roundel and ribs on the intake manifold and valve cover have been done... and that's all I could tell at the moment.
The engine bay has been cleaned, but there's still some cosmoline to come off. The new driveshaft has arrived. The M-tech II kit has been painted and I picked it up today. Didn't need to paint the iS spoiler from Chris (it was already fresh - thanks again, Chris), but my body man Mitch Lanzini did it anyway to make sure it all matches. I'll grab some pics of the pieces soon.
That's it for now.

Wow, not sure how I missed this one. Its funny how similar our builds are with the exception that yours is a cabby. I'm doing a TCD S2 and 5 lug with Staggered style 5's also.
You have good taste sir! Looking forward to the progress...Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

That's fantastic, Bob. Thanks for posting about it, 'cause I'd missed yours too! I'm a little jealous, though, because yours is so much better done in the details. All that fresh M3 harware, while the used stuff I bought still all ratty in need of freshening... and those control arms and bushings too... shit, I'm totally outclassed. ;- )
I've got to make sure I don't miss it when you get it rolling on the staggered style 5s. Your prior car was a knockout too.

Thanks Dave, dont sell yourself short, you have quite the build going on as well. I hope my motor looks half that good when I get the turbo on it.
I would wager that you will be rolling on your style 5's before I am. I'm curious, what are you thinking for tire sizes? Also, are you running the TCD exhaust?
Can't wait to see some more progress. I'm especially curious to see how you lay out the heat exchangers and plumbing...Originally posted by Simon SWhen a dream is a dream for too long - it becomes a fantasy..

I'm running 215/40 fronts and 245/35 rears. Currently I've got Sportmax 006 17x8 and 17x9, so I'll be using the same tires. Those wheels were a quick fix until I found a path to take. Actually,I didn't so much find a path as sort of stumbled on to this, then that, then the other all on short order.
Yes, I've got the TCD exhaust. I figured if Todd had it worked out, then I'd go with that, a bolt-on no-brainer. I don't know what the tailpipe (or tip) looks like, so I may do something with that once the M-Tech II kit is on. I'd like something that has class and style, perhaps something like the basic dual-outlet on my 540 Supersprint. Seems to me that would look nice peeking out from the MT rear.
I'll be sure to get some good pics of the plumbing, but I figure it'll all be mounted however Todd suggests.
