    This sucks again(updated)

I saw yesterday that my engine was so greasy
and today I saw that my water level was extremely low and I saw this
near the manifold you'll see a vertical gap wich is bigger on a warm engine
what are the life expectations for my old M10 now ?
and can a machine shop weld it ? and what costs ?
    TIA

Are you sure that's a crack? If so, I'm not sure a machine shop could do it cheaper than buying a new head. Might just be time to upgrade to a larger engine
Driving is the only way to go faster....

He lives in Belgium, shipping would be astronomical.

Today I've found out that the "crack" was something from the moldings by BMW
and my oil leak is comming probably from the head gasket
I've hot pressure washed my engine and this are the results :

                    That's exactly what Diegom6 said.
Your head gasket is below the area of your "leak" so I doubt that's your problem.
Probably just a leaking valve cover gasket which is very common.

looks like a crack to me... but it is hard to tell from a picture.... look at the bottom of "crack" there is a height difference. The bottom of the head should be FLAT

I could wash my engine and tell you what it looks like there, it is directly behind the alternator right?

If the m10 is only worth 90 I think I am gonna find out what it is like to drop the clutch into first while maxingiin second!!

my friend had a A1 scirocco... really clean car... but when he got it, there was a tire 1.6l 8v in it..... he had a 1.8l GTI motor all lined up to go in..... so he drove around never shifting out of secong gear...... going like 50 mph..... that thing was screaming.....

he would be going 20 in first and leave it in first..... it was brutal

Topper: my valve gasket is replaced at 04/2004

                              yeah right behind the alt.

My needle goes far below 7.000rpm very often (don't say daily)
I can hit 60mph in second better as a Scirocco
