Walk in with the attitude that you want this re-sprayed, but don't be a dick.

They took your money, they did the job, expect quality work and nothing less.

If they are gonna try and jerk you around, still don't be a dick, but have an attorney write a letter for you. Should not cost more than $100 to get it done. Have it mailed "certified" or however your postal system handles things (signature required) and wait.

Unfortunately, you are basically fucked. Keep your head up, don't get all mad and start yelling...that lets them win. Keep your cool, sidestep the bullshit, get your car repainted.

    Good luck.

Damn, that sucks. Same thing happened to my Borbets this winter. I was all pissed off and thought I might post a rant about it on here, but I guess I can't complain now. The whole car? I'd be bullshit. Funny thing is I've had these for I don't even remember how long, at least five years, and always stored the same way. Never had a problem till now. I got my use out of them at least.

Hope you're able to get it straightened out.

[Edit]: These were off the car, but in a similar storage situation. Enclosed, unheated.

          wow

went to the shop today, no hassles, they said they had never seem the RM paint go like that (admitting they f@#$%$ up). They are going to sand it down and repaint, so they should. lets just hope they get it right.
The sunroof is currently out of the car, should i put it in before the repaint so i dont accidently scratch the roof when i am putting it in? also, no windows in the car, how long do i need to wait after paint to have them installed? I dont think they are going to bake the paint, so longer cure time.
          thanks guys

I waited a month to install my windows and trim pieces after paint.

every reputable shop i have seen has huge UV lamps to bake the paint after painting. this is how mine was done, and i leave my car outside 24/7. my paint still looks like the day it was painted.

Mine was baked too, then it was left outside in -30C temperatures over winter, buried in snow, a couple months after being painted. Still looks amazing.

                  care

thanks. ok the car will not be baked so cure time is longer. i assume the paint needs to stay clean, do i just rinse it with cold water every so often? how do i dry it, if the paint is soft still? would an air compressor work for that? i just cant see even a microfibre cloth not leaving marks.

Obviously, you need to move from Canada.

No, just kidding. Good to hear you have a shop there that will take care of you. Believe me, they don't want to do it a 3rd time, so I bet it comes out flawless and stays that way.

You should ask them about the care and feeding of your new paint.

Glad to hear it is gonna work out.

as said on e30tech, its not so surprising that it wasnt baked. Sounds a lot like they are using an acrylic, some enamels absorb oxygen out of the air in the curing process and harden over a number of days, as such they dont need to be baked. Pretty common amongst the diy crowd, good finishes, generally lower cost and without the problems encountered with 2 pack.

As said before, speak to the shop re care and refitting. Cure times are really going to depend on what they shoot, you should not have to wait a month.
Just a little project im working on

Spider cracks will also happen over time if when they sand your car down and its ready for primer, they dont put a sealant over top of the old paint. The new paint comes on, reacts and flexes with the old, and spider crackalackin. My car has this shit all over the passenger quarter from idiot rednecks painting the car years ago.

                              Idea

They will be shooting base clear again, car will be painted sometime in the nest 2 weeks. Since they wont be baking it I had an idea. I was thinking i could buy one of those $200 car tent enclosures, put a tarp on the ground, erect the tent and store the car in there. I think with the warmer weather it would heat up nicely in there and it would keep the car clean while the paint cures. Can anybody think of any negatives to this idea? wont be able to store in the garage so I thought this would be the best alternative.
                              cheers guys!

                                make sure it's raccoon-proof
Not that I care, of course.
