    How much is this car?

Hey guys, I found a 318i here in San Diego and I don't know if I should buy it or not. I've been looking now for a month and started looking for a 325is but found that with gas so expensive and the practicality of a 4 door, a 318i isn't a bad idea at all. Anyway here's the ad with a couple of pics.

I saw the car today but will test drive it tomorrow. Paint on roof and trunk is bad (faded), dash has cracks, tires have some life (about 30-40%), damage to the part under the rear bumper, clean title. How much do you guys think it's worth? Any advice is appreciated!

    About $1000-$1200

I would hold out for a 325i or is, and the difference in MPG won't be that much. Plus, you will be wishing the whole time you got the 325 instead every time you step hard on the gas.

^To be honest, I haven't driven a 318i yet, so tomorrow will be a big day also for my decision on what car to get. He said he *might* do 1300 for the car.

I believe the 318's use a Timing Chain instead of Timing Belt which is a plus, but the Timing Chain cover tends to be problematic on these cars. (going from memory)

So I would find out if that has been addressed. Service/maintenance records are always a plus as it gives some history on the car.

Absent any major mechanical issues, it is easily worth the 1500 he is asking. If you can get it for less - more power to ya!

Ron, I'm going to be selling my white e30 318i four-door 5-speed next week. I'll be asking a bit more than him, but it's pretty much perfect.

If you test drive his tomorrow and decide you can live with the speed of the 318, let me know.

I'm spoiled from daily driving the E39. I can't go back to daily driving the E30. It's just too loud, and plus (damn, I hate to admit this)...the E39 is an automatic and it's really nice to daily drive an autobox.

Man, did I really just say that?

You'll regret not getting a 325, I did. And had to get it later.

well, I still have an e90 330i (255hp) just in case the 318i doesn't perform, but yeah, test drive today will let me know if the 318i is enough for some auto-x days and a good dd.
