    Buying a 1989 325ix w/57k

I will be buying a 1989 325ix with 57,000 orginal miles. The car is absolutly mint without modification. It looks hot. Red (not sure which, but not metallic :( ).

The guy was asking $8900, but I managed to talk him down to $8600. I tried talking him down more, but there isn't a whole lot of room to talk someone down on a car that has nothing in need of repair or replacement.

Can't wait to go back and pick it up next week. I will definetly be taking some pictures!

It's your money, I would have shopped around. That's a lot of dough for 15 year old car, that has no warranty.

I have shopped around. The 325ix's have a huge premimum and all of them seem to have an assload of miles on them. This car is fucking spotless and the transfer case was just repaired by the dealer to stop a slight leak at a cost of $700. The car has the orginal exhaust on it and has no rust on it. The car is rust free and was orginally from PA, where the smart people don't use salt.

I did some research, and am able to afford the insurance on the car and the car payment. I think this car will keep me happy.

Wow - what's bluebook for that car?

Sounds like the guy would rather keep it than sell it for less than $8k

The blue book is like $4600-5400. Market value is a whole lot higher though. Blue book value isn't good for anything but talking someone down on their price.

His wife has been driving the car since he got it. His father is from North Carolina and owns a BMW & Volvo dealership. His father sends older BMW's up here so they can make more $$ selling them here than they can selling them down there.

I like the car a lot.

Sounds like a case of premature actions.

I hope you like it THAT much. I payed 3.7k on my car and had some regrets, even for being as clean as it is.

I rushed my buy. After 3 months of looking, without a very large area to look at ( from Miami you can only look 300-500 miles up ), I just bought the most reasonable one I found. Two P.O.s were BMWCCA members, etc etc....

I seriously regret paying $3700 on mine but as they say: "money comes and goes"

we need pics! is it a 5 speed? 4 door, 2 door?

the 325ix just costs more... if you want a nice one you have to pay for it. I paid $7k for my car two years ago and I have no regrets, although a 5 speed would have been nice. my car is definetly cleaner than any $1500 beater E30.....

Its a 2 door and an automatic, which won't be bad as a winter car. My dad has some Blizzak tires that should fit on the ix.

The car is by no means a beater. To be honest with you, its probably one of the nicest e30's I've seen in person or in pictures. The car looks brand new.

                    Thanks for the responses guys.

yeah, if you want to drive it in the winter, snow tires are the way to go. last year I drove on summer tires.. never again! :)

HAHAHA, funny man. I drove my convertible WITHOUT a LSD on 16" 205 50 16's, now thats a bad way to go. It was quite a bit of work, it being a stick and with manual steering.

I am definately looking for one with power steering for winter driving, all wheel drive is a definite plus!
