Anyone running the 4 lug to 5 lug spacer/adaptors? And what do you think?

Elliott is running custom made spacers, and the wheels he started with had a very high offset to compensate for the large adapters like ^ he said.
Quality adapters are expensive and can run from $250-400 depending on what you are trying to fit. Then you have to worry if the wheels will fit with adapters.
They are not stupid when you have a quality part that does the job correctly. People think they are unsafe but there are hundreds of cars (mainly VW guys) who run these with no problems.
Its mainly the question of if the wheel will fit with the adapters in place, since most wheels don't have high enough offsets to compensate for adapters.Reminiscing...

^what he said.
They are not "stupid" or "unsafe" if made right. But they sure are a bit weird.
The thing with "X lug to Y lug" adapters is that they HAVE to be thick for the adapter to bolt to the hub. I looked into it once and I think I was quoted a min thickness of close to 25mm (~1").Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?

Spacers and adapters are all prefectly fine, so long as you use high quality materials, and you do it right.
With adapters, idealy, you want to find a set that has steel sleeves inserted where the wheel bolts to the adapter. As opposed to just bare aluminum, which will just weaken and break.sigpic

20mm is the absolute minimum you'll see, 25mm is normally as thin as you get. 4x100 to 5x120 1 of the bolts will interfere a lot, and one will interfere a little, so you can't use them with a 1 piece adapter. 4x100 to 5x130 can be made in single piece but 2 of the holes are really close. 4x100 to 5x100 works because you can reuse one of your bolt holes with a really long lugnut/stud. FK makes a kit.
If there's too much interference you can get 2 piece adapters made, you bolt a 4x100 part to your car, then with seperate hardware you bolt a 5x130 threaded piece on, then you bolt the wheel on. minimum thickness is like 35mm, often times wider.

With that said, at some point, if you are hell bent at running wheels that don't fit, you can also have them welded and re-drilled, painted and spaced(?). Just FYI.Originally posted by Matt-Bhey does anyone know anyone who gets upset and makes electronics?
