Who here bought a new A/C compressor?

Just wanted to hear your experience with buying a new compressor from many of the online places? Any particular brand(s) to stay away from?

I want to put a working A/C system into my car, and I think I am better off going with r134a in the long run.

    Tips, suggestions?

Car does not have any of the A/C components, but I do have a 2nd car that I can pull lines/evaporator/condensor from. I figure I'll buy the dryer/sensors and o-rings new as needed.

My AC works, you can come and pull it out of my car if you want.
Not that I care, of course.

My compressor is dead. I'd like to hear some input on this topic as well. I want AC, but I think if i were to do it, I'd have to go with r134a. It makes it so much easier to recharge yourself.

              Sandens are great compressors.

I am going to call them (autohaus az) today or tomorrow to confirm any possible install/issues and start moving stuff (lines etc) from my 325i to 318i to get it going..

So, it's cheaper to just go with Arctic unit, but what are they like?

The Sanden unit needs more parts to work / mount.

just remember, ALWAYS replace the Reciever Dryer whenever you open the system.

Why is that? (or maybe I need to google)

Think of it as a moisture filter. When you open the system it will collect excess moisture and decrease the ability of the system.

How much does the r134a conversion cost? I have a sticker on my pass strut housing that gives a date for when it was done, I'm just wondering if it adds to resale. But for GA the air blows like a fricken blizzard.
