    How is the 325es?

I might be able to pick up an 86 325es, but i dont know anything about it except it has a less hp than the 325i. I would like to auto-x this car, should i just stick with the 325i/318i variant?

torque monster!!!. but slow as fuck 121HP. u could do the 2.7i conversion and u will be faster than 325i. about 180-190BHP. thats very good. anyways i would stick to a 325i .

If you get an eta, only do it for the gas mileage. I wouldn't try to auto X an e unless you're going to build a super eta stroker out of it. I'd definitely go with the 325i because the power difference is huge.

I'm going to use it asa a 2nd daily driver and auto x it as much as possible so thats about 6 times a year. I guess I'll pass up on this and try to get a 318i or a 325i.

^ I wouldn't get a 318i either, that will be even slower that the eta. If you're serious about doing autox, you will want a 325i

I autocross a 318is. Last year i took my GF's 84 325e to the fun event. It works VERY well. I dont see why these guys would say otherwise. You want torque more than HP at the autocross IMO.

All in all, over a 50 second course, the 325e was 3 seconds slower. May seem like a lot, but my 318is has a suspension which is far from stock, and i am very familiar with how it handles. The 325e on the other hand was stock with blown shocks. For a while i considered running a 325e after that day.

Do you know what you're talking about? Nope...didn't think so.

You can't just do a 2.7i conversion on any 2.7i car. The only Etas that can take the I-topend and do the "2.7i conversion" are the 88 Eta's.

                Please, stop spreading misinformation.

If you wanted to be accurate - you'd tell him to do the "2.7i conversion" correctly on his car, he'd have to do a bunch of headwork to allow the engine to rev high - because the I topend will only make the motor have a lower compression, definitely not giving him that power.

Oofie - to answer your question - get the ES, buy a chip, and call it good. It will be fun when autocrossing.

Funny how that is. If you go an autocross even a 325e you are already one step ahead of someone who's never even autocrossed period lol...

Thanks for the replies guys! I hope the guy still has it so i can take a look at it. Guy said he was deployed before finishing the car so it has a front plastic bumper and the stock at the rear.
