help convince my friend that his mustang is not the shit

ok heres the scoop, he thinks that hes got 260 hp. i told him no he doesnt. he has a 96 mustang gt 4.6, 5 speed, yadda yadda. Flowmasters and a BBK cold air induction. Theres no way hes making 260. Has anyone seen one of these dyno, and what real horsepower hes looking at? I coulda swore i saw on Speed, the installation of a vortech supercharger, on the exact car, and it only dynoed at 270hp. Am i wrong or is he?

the 4.6 comes stock with 215hp, so he could be at 260 crank hp, definately possible. the vortech car probably made 270 WHEEL horsepower.

Well the older 5.0lL Mustangs put out 235hp and that was in 88 so maybe but it's been awhile since i have followed the crowd and know the specs.

OT but GRM and bunch of other people are involved with spec Mustangs so you can get them to preform. On a bad day they are quick and a older SVO or SVT will corner very well.

Your friend's claims are most likely valid. Flowmaster exhausts free up a lot of horsepower, especially on an engine like that. Mustangs are no slouch.

At any rate, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

well they arent exactly real flows there the summit knock offs but it still does sound really nice. i could really feel the bbk cold air when he added it too. but 215hp was when it was new, wasnt run to shit, and didnt have 85k on the clock.

Tell him to stop talking and get a 1/4 time or dyno chart.

Regardless of the HP numbers he's claiming, his car does have a shitload more torque....and that's what moves you. His V8 against a straight-6.....he has you beat. Period.

I'd definately drive a GT if one was offered to me. Hooray for having power on the highway!
