    methods of paint removal

I want input on removing the paint from a urethane racing dynamics front spoiler, especially in regards to chemical strippers and such. The reason I ask is I want the logo part to look good and do'nt really want to spend hours with a box of toothpicks and some sandpaper and tape and I think sandblasting would be prohibitively expensive. Please share your methods for removing paint in hard to reach areas.

there is stuff called "bumper stripper". It is sold at large automotive paint supply houses. It works great on things like iS rear spoilers, etc. I'm pretty sure it is formulated in such a way that it wouldn't hurt your bumper. Since the part that you're talking about is pretty special/rare - i'd just go to a local auto paint supplier, tell them what you want, and they should be able to hook you up. I know that the stuff that said "bumper stripper" on it worked great on iS spoilers etc.

I'll have to check that out. I have a fantastic paint supply shop five blocks from my house, the only problem with them is they're open m-f 8:30-4:30 and I have a job. The is spoiler is urethane as well isn't it?

I don't know if it's urethane but it's certainly some sort of composite. I think it would be safe for your spoiler. Just DO NOT use anything like aircraft stripper or whatever - that shit would dissolve your spoiler in a second. I'm sure the place down the road from you could help solve your problem in 5 minutes or less - but I'm also pretty certain that the bumper stripper is not so toxic as to eat the plastic.

Yep that's the one. And don't tell me it can't be done because the PO did the entire back of the car and I don't know how it happened because I'd at least like the front to match.

                    can't be done.

PO probably spraybombed the back of your car, or started to repaint. either way i would put some sort of top coat on the back.

"Low Odor Aircraft Paint Stripper." You can get it for 8.99 a quart at Adanved Auto or Auto Zone. Takes off layers of paint and is safe to use on plastics/metals...just use gloves...it BURNS.

No longer stock ride height, rolling as low as a daily driver in New England should without worrying about breaking an oil pan.

that is going to eat through anything that isnt metal! ...and it will strip down straight to the metal through the primer and all. I don't think that's what either of these guys is looking for!

Unless there is something terribly wrong with the paint that is on it, like its peeling or completely spiderwebbed, I'd just sand out the "issue" areas and prep it for paint. Definitely don't use Aircraft Stripper on anything plastic. I have no experience with that bumper stripper stuff. If it was me and the old paint HAD to come off, I'd have a DA in my hand and some time to spare.
