i cat vs. ix cat- the same?

is the i/is cat the same as the ix cat. I was looking under our cabrio today and it appears to be the same, but when i call places they said there are different part numbers. My exhuast is starting to hurt my ears on long drives so i need to get this taken care of. Damn BMP wants like 200 more dollars for an ix cat which might have a bit more bend in one place or something, its ridiciulous.

nope, totally different. the only parts that are the same in the ix is the exhaust after the cat, and the exhaust manifiolds on the engine.

well that only leaves the cat to be different now doesn't it. well that is bad news considering everywhere i call the ix one i more expensive and none of the local parts places have ix cats. :(. I need to thoroughly inspect the one on my parts car. It has high miles though and i'd rather not have to fix this twice because its a pain in the ass to deal with the bolts.
