    Gas mileage e46 323?

I'm thinking about dumping the e34 for an e46 323it. I like having a wagon, it makes transporting hockey equipment so much easier, and I play hockey more than I do anything else these days.

When I google it I feel those numbers are from some hippies that make it sound like every car gets awful mileage and everyone should stop shaving and take the bus.

also what kind of mileage do 330's get out of curiousity, and they only made them in 2 and 4 dr, no wagon correct?

An auto 323iT will yield 19 mpg overall with a rating of 17 mpg on the street and 25 mpg on the highway

A manual 323iT (not quite easy to come by, yet sometimes more prevalent than 325iT manuals even despite the disparity in vehicle production numbers) will yield 21 mpg with a rating of 18 mpg on the street and 26 mpg on the highway.

An XiT model will net similar overall mpg results with only a decrease of about two mpg on the highway for both auto and manual.

A 330 Sedan or Coupe (no wagon offerings for the 330 M54) will yield an increase of 1 mpg overall in automatic form and equal the overall mpg from a manual 323iT in manual form (My personal experience with an auto 330i sedan is that of about 20.7 mpg achieved overall).

The mileage would not be what I consider as "poor", however it is not econobox great. Later production 325i's (wagon and sedan) were also equipped with the SULEV straight six which emits very little out the rear (comparable to a Prius from what I have seen). This way you can have the piece of mind of knowing that you have minimized your carbon foot print, all the while running over said Hippies on your way to Hockey practice. This is a two fold return for the planet.

damn, this is a crisis here.

I want good gas mileage. i have 3 toys, I want my dd to be efficient. But I don't want to stray away from bimmers and get like a jetta tdi or something weak like that. gotta have rwd (don't want awd). fawk

Our 323i sucks dick. My 318ti was the shit, as far as fuel economy goes. It had the M44 though, so it blew a couple head gaskets in its short time lol.

i thought about this for a while, but i dont think i can get down with fwd. especially in the winter, that would take away all my fun. and diesel is $4 a gallon now, isn't it?

Sorry amiga - an e46 is not a status symbol.
