we cheated bimmerfest!! ha ha! well not really, after 2 of us went in and blew 80 bucks at 8:30 in the morning we just gave our raffle tickets to our buddies outside and they got in for free. So yeah only 20 a car. Do you guys remember when it was only $10? wtf, and it was even cheaper b4 that.

Anyway, glad to have seen a bunch of you, old and new faces. Total shock, I actually got the M3 up to SB for the first time in 4 years! Who ever would have thought that could happen? :)

Are you Chris and did you come hang out with all of us at the Sandpiper/Motel 6. If so It was very good to meet you and you girl, I have met you several years in a row and I don't think we have ever truelly been introduced.

The only thing that left me feeling cheated was that I didn't get to participate in the fun at the E30 trailer!! I walked over there hoping that I'd recognize someone, but I didn't know who anybody was, and they all looked so busy eating and having fun. Oh well. :(

I did meet DEV0 E30 and his digicamo car (which is awesome in person, by the way), and he didn't have a pen. Don't worry, some dude with a Civic loaned me his pen, then he walked into me while I was crouching, writing a note on a business card which I left in a really nice red E30 cabrio. If you are the owner of that cabrio, e-mail me, dangit!

Kellie you coulda deffinitly come up to us and introduced yourself, I woulda realized who you were in a heartbeat. I'm active on here and BF.C so I see your cross posting all the time.

Joe funk stopped by the shop BOTH before and after the fest to hang with our buds here. THAT was what it was about. Joe graciously let me drive his 335iS and he got to drive the cabrio. We will be building 335's for Adam, Ian and I after that!

Didn't feel cheated, but then again I also know that IT ISN'T A CAR SHOW!!! Yes, there is the Battle Of The Bimmers that goes on, but that is only part of the event. Some people on here get it. 'Fest is about like minded enthusiasts coming together and spending some time together in one place (ok, several places). There are very few cars on this board that would win much of anything in the Battle portion. But that isn't the point of going. The people. THAT is the point.

For the record, the Classic awards went to a Deuce Touring, Ron Pearlman's e28 M5 (his 2nd M5 to place), and the Deuce Turbo. And an e21 323i won for longest distance traveled to 'Fest, he came from Washington, DC.

As usual, Jon Schaffer did the best he could with what he was handed. We were just the right size last year for the Showgrounds. 2000 BMW's came last year. 1251 were registered to show up this year. But FAR more than that actually showed. You can't blame them (or the cops) for having to deal with it as they could when 3 times the amount of cars you're expecting show up. If you are expecting 20 and 60 show, that isn't too bad. But if you're expecting 1200 and over 3k are all of a sudden bringing the 101 North to a stand still, SOMEthing has to give.

New cars bring the money. Money keeps shops in business. I love E30s, but I know what keeps shows running.

True. Plus we low ball everything. Most e30 drivers have and e30 cause it was the nicest German car in their budget. There are a select few of us who make good money who have these cars as a preference and spend more on mods then it would cost to get an e46. But even we like to low ball for posterity.;)

Bavarian Autosport's Show 'n' Shine usually has a half-decent E30 turnout for you east coasters. This past year had lot's of cool swap cars and such and Best of Show went to a 2002 touring in MINT condition, which spoke volumes about the participant's view of BMWs.

My summary:

First bfest for me, I thought it was a little too big and commercial but thats what happens when you get car people together. I took pretty stock m3 sedan and never was asked anything about, which is fine I honestly felt out place not having a super-modified car. Pretty much seem's like boost is over-rated now that everyone has it. When I took pictures of car that I liked for example e30's and 02's and e34 people looked at me like I was crazy. I spent most of the week at the Ramada, the older guys (m5 guys and z guys) and e21 guys were the coolest people.

Most e30 and e36 guys were either really cool and enthusaistic or total douches. Same could probably be said for me since I was drinking most of the time and I DONT have a filter on my mouth when I do that. I didnt speak to any newer car guys unless they were talking to someone I knew because really they didn't give a shit about anything but themselves but thats most people in general.

ESS TUNING's AJ was cool as shit total cool to talk about "CARS" in general, he loves the new corvette which was funny coming from a european. His HHR got molested was the funniest thing ever on Sunday morning when still hungover. ESS Tuning car's are f'n sick, especially the white z4m.

The new m3 is ugly, its ugly in pictures, its ugly in person, its ugly in race/modified form, and every 335i guy to me looked a 50kmillionaire who is proud to have a $700 a month car bill and be broke from it but act like they were baller.

Did anyone see the "rapper" making his music video at bfest, total fag.


Anywho worth the 500+ in hotel expenses and 300+ for gas, no but 300+ in booze made it worth it and plus vacations are never worth the money its about relaxing and having a good time, which I did. Plus seeing my buddy pull on 911 in his s/c m3 was f'n awesome.
