It was a shame to see it meet this fate. But Dave will build something new and better, I hope.

He already purchased an E30 M3.

I know he is planning on swapping over a lot of bits from the Cabrio to the M3.
He is talking about turboing the S50 he had for the cabrio and putting that in the M3...

Only time will tell. Maybe the mistique of the S14 will take control and prevent that. :D

You're best bet is to call your local dealers with the part #. Some of them are too lazy to look it up. I have called 3 diff. dealers in NJ and they can all get them. Its a special order so they will require you to pay upfront of course..

I just got off the phone with BMW NA and their is presently none in US inventory. It's a special order from Germany or Have me pick up but would prefer not to. To odd sized of an item.

Update BMW just called $196.20 for one with your CCA discount otherwise it's $248.52 for this.

damn i guess i could have gotten more for my skid plate

i now have a custom skid plate made by a mechanic at my job, this one is 100000000000 time strong then the BMW factory, i will break my whole car before breaking an oil pan in case a hit a bump

Why doesn't anyone here make their own skid plate. Just get some 1/8" - 3/16" metal plate about and inch wide. Take some measurements and look at the design of the factory plate. Weld your own. I have a welder and plan on doing this sometime within the next 6 months. I just need to find the time. The materials would only cost about $10, if that. Has anyone done it? I just can't imagine paying over $100 for for a bbq grill grate to stick on the bottom of my car.

I'll give you one answer in my book of reasons. TIME and facility to make it and equipment. I live in a hotel at the moment so it's just not possible. Maybe now that some fellow members have stepped up and offered space in garages to work.
