How much to fill your BMW up?

You missed my point as usual. I'm just sick and tired of people shitting a brick everytime gas goes up 20cents/gallon. On a 12 gallon fillup of an e30, thats a 2.40$ increase. My point is that if your weekly budget cant handle a 3$ swing then you have bigger problems to worry about.
As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.Comment

15-20 cent increase per gallon a month, for the past year or so. That starts to cut into peoples budgets pretty quickly. Perhaps if you live with your parents, don't drive much, don't pay heating bills or pay for food, you may be shielded from the overall effect. However, in the real world, that gas price increase is also reflected in food costs and heating oil, to a pretty significant degree. Combined with no real increase in the living wage, and a lot of people will start hurting. You missed my point as usual. p.s. I didn't start this thread to whine.
I just thought it was a little rediculous. No, $3-4 a tank doesn't hurt me, that's why I don't mind putting in the 93 octane... But adding it all up, my gas allowance is going up a lot faster than some of my other bills. Groceries have gone up a little...
I can understand inflation, and profit. I have it fairly easy as far as commute goes, but I LIKE to drive recreationally, and this is really sucking that up pretty quickly.Slicktop City!Comment

I remember when premium was about $1.99 per gallon 3 years ago. Now it's $4.00, and it costs me $50 to fill instead of $25. Now maybe in the grand scheme of things $25 isn't the end-all, but considering I have to fill up 5-6 times per month, it's still about $150 dollars to me, which ends up being $1500+ over the course of a year. And that does make a difference to a college student :)Comment

What e30 do you have to get 350 miles.
Mine lasts at most 200 miles on full tank.
$55 to fill.
Actually 140 miles to be precise.
I drive roughly 20 miles a day * 8 = 160 then I have to refill.Comment

your car runs like ass then, that's only 10 miles per gallon assuming you go all the way to the reserve light.Comment

Really? I get 300 miles out of my '90 325i without even thinking about it, and that's without a low fuel light coming on. The best mileage I've ever managed was 29mpg driving VERY conservatively, which should be good for more than 350 miles.
This car is rarely used for anything other than my commute, which is 30 miles, 1/2 back roads, 1/2 highway.'84 318i - Lapisblau/Schwarz (in cryosleep)

If you want to nickle and dime yourself out of a lot of money go for it. I'm always looking for ways to minimize costs. Besides, it's not an issue of people not being able to afford gas - people just don't like it when prices go up. Just think if you had a better job and saved more. You missed my point as usual. This is also how I was going to answer lol
Except I'm paying $4.19/gal for 91 octane because I have this stupid little thing in my car called a chip.
And I usually fill 13-14 gallons everytime I fill up. So it's $54-$60 every three days.
I usually get about 300 miles out of the tank before filling up again. So it's about $.20/mile.Last edited by 92 mtechnic cabrio; 05-14-2008, 12:50 PM.Comment

I thought it was assumed that this conversation doesnt apply to those people.
You mean why do I use math to figure out that my expenses from rising fuel costs are a small portion of my budget. And that if I really needed to, not going out to eat one night a month, for example, would more than offset that.Originally posted by Turf1600If you want to nickle and dime yourself out of a lot of money go for it
Then why do you have 3 cars? Because you want three cars, I get that. But what I dont understand is why youre bitching about something you need (gas to fill A car to get to work), when you probably spend much more on the things you want and dont need.Originally posted by Turf1600I'm always looking for ways to minimize costs
So we should be upset at capitalism? At governments, companies and people for trying to make money? Imagine your the CEO of an oil company. As you continue to increase your prices, demand stays the same. Why on earth would you stop increasing your prices?Originally posted by Turf1600people just don't like it when prices go up
This is going way offtopic and not aimed at the people posting in this thread. But what really irks me is the same people bitching about gas prices, bitch about the war, whose main purpose is to prevent our fuel costs from reaching European levels.Last edited by madjurgen; 05-14-2008, 01:50 PM.
