Get the E30 dude. The 318is is a great place to start...not overly powerful(still enough to get you in trouble), excellent handling capabilities, and would be great for track days.

It seems you have your head in the right place. Spirited driving can be fun, but learn to drive the car and save the really aggressive driving for the track!

I originally wanted a later model 325i/is but the 318is is sounding pretty good, especially with $4/g gas.

How do the 325i/is and 318is compare price wise, also the 318is comes with an LSD right?

318is does not come with LSD as standard equipment. It was optional.

The 325is and 318is are around the same price in equal condition.

I'd try to find a good deal on one, work on it, do the most likely overdue maintenance, upgrades, etc, while continuing to have a reliable DD.

              when i was 15 i didnt have a job or any money, but i got my e30 when i was 14 ;)
we dont have snow so that wasnt a problem, so if you have money to afford an e30 id buy one, ask your dad if you can sell the audi and keep some of the money, like the reverse of a finders fee

The 318is is a great car and the M42 is more sophisticated and reliable than the M20s (less expensive to operate too as far as maintenance goes)

                  Besides Audi sucks

Well since I'm Sixteen I'll chime in. I have an M42, got it for a pretty cheap price, no lsd so its pretty good in Rain. I haven't gotten into trouble yet, I'm always aware of my surroundings. I think that having an E30 is a lot better than a civic or truck as your first car. Here's what it comes down to, If you must have an E30, then drive a few first don't just by the first one you see, 325's and 318's see which one you like better and then decide. Just make sure that everything is solid on it. And as everyone has said before, don't do stupid things, it will get you into trouble. Some kid at our school totaled his Tahoe because the was screwing around on a gravel road.
