The fact that the motor held on that long isn't terribly surprising. It's the fact that your odo still works that has me stunned.

I don't think an s52 would last half that w/o a complete rebuild a couple times over.

I've seen quite a few 200k+ mile M50s at work that are still "unopened". I'm willing to be that with care the M/S5X motors will last as long as M20s. I think the reason you see more of the S52s blowing up is the fact that people beat them hard. In my experience it's as reliable if not more so.

mine stopped at 189k that was at least 5 years ago. i would say an s5X engine will last as long as any other engine, as long as proper maintenance is performed.
