Unfortunately, the future is here. I just plugged this little doodad from progressive insurance into my girlfriend's CR-V diagnostic port. Every month or so she is supposed to hook it up to usb and download if she's been speeding or not, and they give her a discount.

Big brother is here, Get in line, the Ministry of Love awaits.

That's crazy. I know I could get a discount if I reported or had my insurance check how many miles I drive, but no thanks.

Fred - E30's are in the background of 2 of the pics.

              Ya, I saw the E30s.

I can't believe that the insurance company has something like that! It seems rather dumb, because someone could drive 65 mph in a school zone while drunk and still receive a discount on their car insurance... unless there's some kind of GPS involved too, in which case... WAR IS PEACE. FREEDOM IS SLAVERY. IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.

I didn't mean to derail the topic, but yes it's called progressive tripsense. I think it mainly has to do with how much you drive and when, but I'm against it. The g-friend doesn't care as long as she saves $$. We have different views on government.

Right now it's only available in two states, Michigan and Oregon. Plus it only works in OBD-II cars, so you guys are safe.

Topic's based on pictures of Lambos suck. It's alright. New direction has much more freedom, or lack there-of. Ha.

About tripsense.. since it's OBDII they can only get PCM data; rpm and speed is what they record. They can't get your gps coordinates. since OBDII has been implemented in so many architectures, they have no way of talking to any other controllers.

Car manufacturers are having trouble keeping up with the increased complexity of electronics.. diagnostic tools have become extremely complex. You need a powerful laptop hooked up to a network nowadays; portable tools are being left behind because they can't handle the complexity.

                          Insurance companies can only wish.

Fucking Lambos and Ferrari's (esp. Lambos) *making jerking off motion* trying hard to still be considered race cars when most people attribute them with the term. Pigs of cars, tons of cylinders, blah blah. Lazy engineering FTL. One can stuff a V12/V10 into anything and make it fast. I dunno I just have some bones to pick with the "high end/ultra expensive and exotic" cars.
