Called and left a message. Looks like it needs body work...
And say I do purchase that car, can anyone reccomend a good mechanic that has experience with E30s in NY?

ok, so the guy sends me an email back after i ask him for a good time to come by and take a look at the car, he says:

"it has about 148.000 miles on it, if still interested you can call 516-868-0426 or respond back to this email"

the phone number connects to a best buy in long island, i sent him 3 emails since, and the car listing expired. dont know to bother to go through with trying to contact him...

Go check it out...if you don't know how to properly inspect a car, bring someone who knows how. There is always something more than "just the passenger window".

Besides the body kit and stickers it looks fine. Probably asking too much as he didn't mention the miles.

My advice is to go south or west and find the least rusty E30 you can. Mechanical work is childs play compared to paint and body work. They dump a lot of salt on the roads in your area so after 16-19 winters, the salt damage begins to take its toll.

I looked for months for a 4 door plastic bumper E30 325i with a 5 speed. It seems that 90% of all 4 door late model E30's are automatics (except for 91 318i). I finally found mine in the middle of nowhere (Fresno CA) for $1.5K, http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=82985 be patient and expand your Craigslist search area to VA, NC, or better yet, take a trip to CA for your E30. Think of the road trip back...
