I really don't understand why carbs are looked down upon. This gixxer motor was converted to carbs and puts out more hp/liter then any n/a motor on here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X91za09PZQIOriginally posted by StereoInstaller1Do you feel like something is trying to penetrate your butthole?Comment

Well I have been hiding these for years and finally picked them up. Now I wonder if they are a good size for the M20? Well let me know what you think. It says SOLEX 40pi and of course Made In Germany

I also have the original air intake,

Bike motors aren't a fair comparison on hp/liter as they make shit torque. Not to mention F1 engines DESTROY that bike motor on hp/liter, and they aren't using carburators.I really don't understand why carbs are looked down upon. Fuel Injection:
1. Gets better gas mileage (Moto GP bikes switch to FI for this reason)
2. Easier to start
3. Easier to tune
4. Don't suffer from fuel starvation in hard corners like some cheaper carburetors do.
For starters....Need parts now? Need them cheap? steve@blunttech.com

Bike motors are actually affordable to mere mortals and are real works of art. Comparing that motor to an F1 engine is just absurd. I'm not arguing that fuel injection isn't better here. I'm just trying to say that carbs are simply a preference and that up to date high quality carbs are some pretty impressive stuff.Originally posted by StereoInstaller1Do you feel like something is trying to penetrate your butthole?Comment

I'd be the last one to disagree with you here, but do me a favor and take a long, hard look at the carbs the OP posted and tell me if they look either up to date or high quality to you?'89 325is S50 Track Montser

I think that should read easier to tune well. The only thing that carbs offer over EFI, which is the reason they are still in use, is the ability for someone with no experience with electronics and/or access to the hardware, to make a fully custom setup "work". But should you have the required ability, tools and parts, the possibilities with EFI are limited only by what you have available (hell you could control how much fuel is injected for a left turn 0.96G, at 61% throttle, 100kmh speed, 98kpa air pressure etc etc). With carbs you're limited by where you set the screws.
