    M20 individual throttle intake

I know bmp makes a multi throttle intake system for the m20 motors. Does anyone know any cars that uses them? Or does anyone have an opinion on them?

Also does anyone else make a multi throttle body intake for the m20 motors?

    Thanks

Yep that would be me i'm 80% complete with my m20 unit right now.
BMP and Diablis are about the only comanies out there that make and intake.

FWIW, the BMP unit is just a rebadged Dbilas intake. Although, with the exchange rate as it is, and factoring in shipping, the BMP unit actually ends up being cheaper. According to the e30.de boys, with just a chip & the multi-throttle intake, it looks like you can get some pretty decent gains on the motor (They claim 20 rwhp), granted, you're looking at a 2k expense right there.

I would certainly look into if if I lost my sanity and started to build a budget busting, balls out M20 stroker.

How about doing what Redbaron325 was doing and just have a custom aluminum manifold made up with a flange to accept a single large GM type throttle body? perhaps 2?

Sure here is a link of some picshttp://www.r3vlimited.com/phpBB2/vie...ht=2+7i+teaser
Since those pics I've made the Plastic flange that will bolt to all 6 throttles that the Plenum will be glued to.

But still has anyone tried the Dbilas/bmp setup?

                  How's your German?

I have yet to find anyone on any US-based board that has used the multi-throttle setup. However, there are a number of guys on e30.de that have the unit. You might want to try posting on their board, even in english, you might get lucky.

A pal of mine (in Germany) drove someones 2.7L stroker that had the Dbilas. He said that it hurt the low end of the stroker, but the high end was great....all the way up to 7000rpm.....said it felt like it had more to give but the chip only provided a 7000rpm rev limit. The 20rwhp gain seemed accurate to him.

The owner mentioned that he has to have it recalibrated every year though....as in it doesn't appear to be that great of quality.

Anyhow, if you have the dough, get it........but there are other mods for the same money that will get you more than 20rwhp power.

the intake runners on that intake are very short compared to the stock m20 runners... that explains the loss of low end torque.... also the walls of the runners are quite thick so aditional boring could be done and possably bigger throttles could be installed if 2k isnt pricey enough for ya

my question however is where do you get a relyable vacuum signal from with the dbilas intake??? of all the pics i have seen i havent noticed and type of rail or canister that would average the vac signals from the individual runners

Most of the setups I've seen are running an aftermarket MAF sensor setup instead of the stock AFM.

But you still need vacume for the brake booster. That has been a problem I've been trying to figure out with mine.

if you have a smallish vacuum tight canister and run a vacuum line from each runner(after the throttle) into the canister it averages the vacuum from all the runners to make a larger vacuum in the canister... this is good for brake booster and the such but sucks in most cases for MAP setups

i dont know if the dbilas setup has something like this but that is how i would get a vac signal out of an intake like that
