Rattling rear window in my 90 325ic

There is a really annoyong rattle in my rear window, it goes away when I put the window down slightly so I know it's the window.

My questions are what is the seaiest way to get in there, and is this common?

    Thanks!

It might be caused by the alignment with the front window

It might be caused by the alignment with the front window. When the front and rear window are both all the way up (on either side), they should "mate" up in a specific seam that will be obvious by looking at it. If the front window's alignment is off, then the seam where the front and rear window touch will be off. (This would be easier to show in a picture). This would also cause the top of the windows to fall out of alignment with the convertible's top (when the top is up).

There is a section in the Bentley manual showing how to adjust your windows alignment. It involves taking off the inside door panel and playing with the adjustment screws. When the front and rear windows are aligned properly, the seam where the two meet and also the groove the top of each window fits into the convertible top keep the window in place (so no more vibrating).

Hope this helps. Sorry I don't have a camera as it's much easier to show than explain. Here's a How To for this adjustment but on an e36. It'll hopefully give you a sense of what I'm talking about.

Thanks the info is perfect, they mate everywhere perfectly, and it's when the back is up that it rattles. if I put it down slightly it goes away thats how I verified that was the source.
