Blown head gasket and new pictures.

Well, 21psi killed my car (well... kinda). I'm pretty sure it was due to lack of fuel, my fuel table is only set up for 18psi, so adding 3psi more was too much air. I could not hear detonation because of my new exhuast/wastegate setup. So, i installed a new head gasket, and stuff. I also took out all my charge pipes and painted them wile i was at it... also my intake manifold/valvecover.

It runs fine now, I was lucky it was only a compression leak, and it did not hit a water jacket or oil journal. questions/comments?

When are you going to change up the fuel tables so you don't have this problem at 21 psi?

Those are some very cool pictures with the whole setup sitting on the chair. Good work!

Why don't you just enrich the fuel map at pressures above what you're using?
That can help save your day, in case your wastegate or whatever malfunctions. And it won't affect driving as long as you keep at the mapped pressures.

Was the gasket broken on the 6th or 1st cylinder?

I have to pull my top end and swap out headgaskets sometime soon, its getting pretty bad. Not hard, but not looking forward to it.

Matt, glad to hear you had no major problems...

Engine bay looks great now, I am liking the bright silver look although the blue was cool.

The valve cover and intake manifold turned out great! It looks really nice next to the blue.

yeah the headgasket wasn't hard it was just a royal pain in the ass. went back together really quickly, but taking it apart was a pain. I am still leaking oil i dunno where from though.

Same here, I think mine is leaking. Matt, did you pull the head with the intake manifold and everything still attached to it?

TJ - yes, the whole thing came out, turbo, adapter/manifolds, intake manifold... heavy...

I will probably tune it for more, but not right now...

Engine bay looks fucking great, Matt.

It was so cool to see your car and turbo setup in person, and get a ride in that monster.

Keep up the good work.

Mine too, I think. M50's going in in the next few weeks, though. I'll probably sell the M20 wickedly cheap.
