Go for an 840, 850s are nothing but problems. IIRC its something ridiculous like pulling the motor to do a valve cover changes. Ive just heard from our old school techs here that theyre miserable to work on.

These cars were a problem when they were new with a factory warranty. Why anyone would want to buy one aged and without a full coverage warranty is beside me, and IMHO you would be better off flushing $6500 down a toilet or donating it to the democratic party.
At gas near $4 a gallon, it doesn't make any sense to drive two M20's. Plus what all they had to say, unless money isn't an issue. Oh and thats really cheap for an e31, there may be something wrong.

It's been hit, and the notoriously shitty automatic transmission is about to die.
This a 100k (in 1991 dollars) car selling for less than 7k at a dealer. Do the math.
with the auto tranny they are slow, my dad has two regulars at this shop. one is a auto, the other is a 6speed, the 6speed is much faster and you can pretty much stay in second gear all day long.
the cost of parts is through the roof ($2500 for a clutch!!!) not to mention working on that car isnt anything like an e30
but if you want a fast comfortable cruzer, its a lot of fun!
