In 1989 my wife and I went to look at the new 325ic. They were selling for about $34,000 which was more than I could afford at the time. I made her a promise that when I hit the big time I would buy her one. Well, several years ago I finally hit the big time and kept my promise to her. I bought her a 1989 325ic. That's how we ended up with an e30.

I first saw an e30 via myspace.

I was searching for BMW realted groups and came across r3vlimited's myspace page. I clicked on pics and saw Blunts old red car, I just fell in love with it.

Year later I saw a 84 318i for sale on the LIST and bought it for 800$. had issues so sold it for 800$

Then last year around october I saw a 1991 318is Alpine white for 2350$ so I bought it. Been in love with the car ever since, good times and bad, never left me stranded and I love to just go drive in it.

About 20 years ago (still in high school), I drove by buds dads e21 and I was amazed on the handling...even with that lil motor. I couldn't afford to buy it off his dad when he wanted to sell it but it left an impression on me for ever. I was hooked then on BMWs. I got into e30 just by being a car nut and just loved the body styling back in 1995 and I knew I had to have one. It took me 11 years to buy one...man that was long wait.

Regret: I shoulda made my first toy an e30 instead of a 1984 mustang SVO.

Loved the old school look off it. Found one cheap with full service history. Auto blew so changed to manual opened up a whole new car. Now getting a s52 conversion. Have never looked back

I was looking for a BMW for my first car...(since BMW and Mercedes run in the family!)
I really wanted an e36 with the money I had...so I joined these forum sites and eventually the E30 Literally GREW on me!
I used to look at the engine bay on the e30 and go "wow that's looks flimsy"

              so long story short...
I saw what could be done to these cars...and the $$ on the overall package made me an E30 WHORE

i was 12 and went with my grandfather to the factory to pick my e30 up.
It was always a nice car, but from 98-01, i didnt care much for it.
Looked up the car on the world wide interwebz and after a little while, found its depth in glory and my heart went out to keet the car close.
Been on the e30 forums since.

Will i have other cars as center of attention? hell yes. will i ever give up my original e30 from 1990? fuck no.

                    I've been driving a 2002, 2002tii & E3 for over 25 years. My daughter was
driving my 73 E3 Bavaria so I needed to get her something more
dependable and have a car that didn't drink as much gas. I bought my
                    mechanic's 86 325 2 door 5 speed in August 2006 and haven't looked back
since. I was hooked on the first drive. My daughter wanted a 4 door but
it had to have a 5 speed. I searched for months before I found a 89
325i 4 door 5 speed. It seems that 90% of plastic bumper E30 sedans have
automatics (except for 91 318i). I started modifying that car but I had
to stop when I realized, I've giving this to my daughter, she wouldn't
appreciate it. She just wants a daily driver. My youngest daughter who
turns 16 in a few months is getting her sisters former 86 E30. I now
have a 91 E30 318i sedan that I like best of all. The M42 motor loves
to rev and is a blast to drive. E21's and E36's don't do much for me.
I just like plastic bumper 5 speed E30's, they are great cars compared
to E36's. They make great daily drivers, especially eta cars with the price
                    of gas these days.

well, i saw a movie called fast and the furious, and one of the dudes was making fun of another dude about not double clutching/granny shifting and his floor board fell out too, so i wanted a car that had synchros and the floor board had to be integrated into the chassis.

I did some searching and found out that BMW floor boards are solid and I wouldn't have to worry about double clutching... 7 years later here i am driving a 3-uhhh...something with a sweet body kit!

i remember watching a video with my sons of dado and randy sparres car ripping it thru the holland tunnel. the sound of their exhaust was all i needed to hear. then i learned they were swapped s52 cars. so there i sat with this m20 powered e30 that didnt sound that cool. so that was the next mod

My nephew picked up, an 86-325i from his buddy, I had rode in one back in the late 80's (ex GF's, mom's car) and I liked the boxy look of them and the handling. I got some extra money from my taxes in 2006 and wanted a personal car, something for me, not the family. So I started to look for an e30and found an 88-325is.

I don't know how, I never bought this car before I had sex, it would have been much cheaper from the get go........

Oh, I almost forgot, since my purchase of the e30, my 2 older brothers have bought e30's as well. I'm starting to work on the rest of the family now.

My brother had it for 2 years, and I was satisfied with it, didn't wanna bother selling it and buying a probably cheaper car. So I kept it, 86 325e, then the more I read about cars, a 325i seemed to be the best option in my price range, decent looking, quick, good handling, and reliable enough, most importantly, rwd.

My dad had a 85 325e auto that he gave to me when he got his 86 535is. i drove that for a year, r3v'ed it twice and sold it to pay for a non-running 90 325i and a wrecked 89 325i that ran...
did the swap, drove it for about a year and a half, blew the crank bearings.
I bought a 85 535i two days later with the intentions of doing a m30 swap until I found out that the e28 m30's arent as good as the e34 m30's.
Since than I have been DD my 535i while ive been doing the m30b35 swap in my e30!
