my first car was an 84 325e 5-speed. NYC car had been broken into 5 times, the 6th time the PO just gave up. left the drivers door lock and trunk lock all beat up, didn't replace the radio, actually gave the car to me for free. drove it around through high school, got into a wreck and the other kids parents didn't want to go through insurance, so they paid out of pocket to fix my beater. got new locks, new paintjob, and with the bit of extra cash finally got a radio. loved it even more after that...couple months later I couldn't take it to college so it sat in the parents driveway for 2 years, they finally sold it. Since then, i have bought/sold a 92 cab and 87 325is. I currently own an 89 M3 and daily a 91 318is.

I was originally going to buy a 944 or a volvo turbo. It had to be RWD and a stick, and the e30 just kinda fit all of my other needs. It's fairly practical, fun to drive, and they look great. I saw someone who is now a friend of mine driving his 325i cabrio down the road one daay when I was 15 and looking for a first car, and that's kinda what inspired me.

the e30 just has its Taoist ways about it. it has its own unique energy and character. it just is.

I was without a car for a little while because my refrigerator on wheels blew up. My friend had bought one to autocross and hardly drove it so i gave him 20 bucks and he let me drive it for almost a month. I fell in love with it.
It was an 86 that had been beat to hell and gutted and he had cut the stock springs and straight piped it so it was loud as hell. I loved driving it because it was such a raw car nothing fancy no a/c no heat no power steering or anti lock brakes i just felt connected to the car when i was driving and I felt like I was in complete control of the car at all times.

My dad has owned BMWs since I was a kid in NY. The first car I can remember riding in was his e21 320i, rusty and oxidized paint, light metallic blue, black interior, 5 speed. I fell in love with that car, and when I was about 6 asked my dad if he would keep it until I was ready to drive so I could have it. Long story short we moved to New Mexico right after my 8th birthday and he sold the car for $100 on a short sale. When we were in NM he treated himself to a fairly new 318is. He has owned 318is' ever since. When I was 16 I paid for half of my first 1989 325i that we bought for $3000. That was the first one, lots of great memories in that car. Now I have my cirrus 335i and can't ever see myself NOT owning an e30.

Back about 1998 I needed a car and was looking at e36s, I was young and was talked out of it due to the expense of maintenance and got an SVX instead...anyone who knows the ammount of work and money that goes into keeping an SVX on the road will know you could have 3 e36s for the same price, after about a year I got my 1988 325is that the PO spent tons of money on, seemed like a good deal for a couple years, then I discovered it had been in a major wreck and poorly repaired, an entire new front clip was grafted on, I had planed to replace it wait an e46 m3 cabriolet 2 years ago, but unexpectedly had to replace my truck, so I wound up scraping the first car and using all the new parts to fix up a 1992 325ic and a 1991 325i(s) s52, I never intended to own an e30, it just happened over and over!
This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

I have been into VW's for the last 10 years, particularly MK2's. I have always wanted to make a RWD VW. I dont know exactly when the e30 caught my eye but it looks similar to an MK2, its RWD, and its European. All areas were covered so I had no problem getting one. I stumbled upon this site and fell hard for the car! I wanted one so bad! It took me about 6 months to learn enough about them to know what I wanted....PB 325is! Upon looking through craigslist I found a tolerable subject, a 1990 325i. Its was $400. The head had been removed to be replaced due to a broken timing belt. The new head was all ready in the back seat, all I had to do was buy a gasket set and put it back together. A few hundred more dollars towards other repairs and maintenance and the thing runs awesome! I totally forgot I even own an MK2 VR6 anymore!
