New E30 owner reporting for duty... and a second job lol

    Hi r3v!

I've been lurking for a bit but finally got my car rolling and thought I should start posting. About a month ago I came across a 1987 325i vert for $500 and couldn't resist! It had no leaks and 131,000 miles on it. The transmission was shot but I found a rebuilt with 1,500 miles for $300 and paid $200 for the installation. I'm not a mechanic and didn't want to try tackling that one on my own. I do however wish to do what I can on my own. The car is wonderful to drive so far but she has her gremlins that need to be eradicated! I think the best part though is that my wife is wanting to get down and dirty right with me on fixing it up. I'll start a project log once I'm able to post pictures so everyone can follow along in the fun. Here's a list of things I'd like to accomplish soon, hence the second job needed:

Timing belt(Is $150 a fair price for the kit and installation?)
    Water pump
Update suspension(Suggestions for low budget but safe methods?)
Seats are shot and some of the interior panels don't match (Suggestions on using vinyl dye and location to get skins for self installation?)
Carpet kit(Can't seem to find the whole thing as it is two separate pieces and I can only find the front half online.)
New seat mounts(Current ones are busted and the seats won't move back/forward)
Update front and rear to possibly have plastic bumpers
Bodywork/Paint(Not sure if I want to change the color or not. Currently Royal Blue)

I will always take advice, criticism, and flames with the highest respect 8). Thank you to all that ever assist! I hope to make it to some meets soon!

$150 is a great price for parts and labor. Welcome to R3v!
Build your own dreams, or someone else will hire you to build theirs!

Your signature picture has been removed since it contained the Photobucket "upgrade your account" image.

That's an awesome price, it's almost so low I'd be worried about it.

Time to tuck those bumper until you can find some plastics!

Well I cut my finger when changing some fluids so that is at least 5k right there. PM me and I'll tell you where to make payment . I pulled a carfax and it came back clean so that made me smile even more! I've started a project list on pelican parts as they seem to be reasonable. Is there a better online vendor? I'll be doing a huge egay sale this sunday to fund the next round. So far I've completed:

                  -Brakes/Rotors $150 installed
-Set of used tires for the moment $60
-Throttle body boot(I think that is what it was called). It was cracked and caused the engine to stall if it sucked in air. $20
                  -Transmission installed
-Flushed every fluid and replaced every filter $120

koperformace is a good place for the price but their shipping takes for ever which is why it is free

Is there a website that shows every different plastic bumper that would fit my series? I find tons on searches but unsure of the names of the different styles.

                            $150 for T-Belt parts/install is a fantastic price.

BTW, I have a 3 spoke wheel like yours from my low mileage 88 cabrio that is in much better condition then the one in your pic.

                            PM me if you're interested.
