    Please help Tickets!!!

    Hello,

I just received one ticket with two violations. One violation is for speeding and the other for an unsafe lane change. I was wondering whether taking traffic school will clear out both violations. Or whether I can choose which violation I want traffic school to count towards. I currently live in California if that makes any difference. Please shed some light if you know anything. Thanks!!!

Why don't you call up your local court house and find out?

Last time I did this here in my state, defensive driving class didn't apply to any particular violation; I just got some points(~3) credited to the point total on my driving record. This is all handled by DMV. Take the class on the next available date and keep your paperwork to show the judge. DMV handles the points after conviction, but taking the class in advance may get you a little leniency in court, judge may reduce the charges. Lawyer might help, but might not be worth the extra $ unless you are facing a loss of license.

Ask DMV many times you can take the class within a year for point reductions. Take it as many times as they will allow.

Looks like they may apply traffic school to a particualr violation in your state.
Anyhow, call DMV with your questions.

Hey thanks alot. I guess I will either need to fight it, hoping the highway patrol will not show up so that the ticket can be dismissed or get traffic school for both of my tickets if possible. Otherwise i will be risking my liscense.

as a law student who has a $255.00 ticket pending for a 89 in a 55 for over a year and if I make it to 2yrs. it is dismissed, I would call up the DA and inform her/him of your situation with the flow$$ and tell her that you want to pay for the ticket after appealing to him/ her for help. they will put the ticket up for amendment and tell you to call back here's the tricky part so pay attnetion , don't call back ever! at least this works in KS, and should be tried elsewhere, it's been a year with mine and I got pulled over last week for a stop sign with no probs. seriously it might work check your SOL in your state to see if it might work. peace/ Bickel

California Highway Patrol...they are assholes. I got pulled over for following an emergency vehicle within 300 feet on the freeway and ticketed. The cop was swerving left and right and I tape recorded it on my phone.

Anyways, do this. First, call right now, ASAP, and get an extension for that date. Extend it to as far as you possibly can. Get as many extensions as you possibly can. When you finally appear in court, contest the violation. Hope that the officer doesn't show up, he probably will...CHP are bastards. If he doesn't, before the case even starts tell the judge that you want to plead guilty and ask for traffic school. Take traffic school to erase the counts. If you try to go ahead in the case, YOU WILL LOSE. And if you lose you won't get traffic school. Best of luck.

Why would you plead guilty if the cop does not show up?

In Va, it usually gets tossed if the cop doesn't show. :D

I miss Kansas. I had a ticket there and missed my court date. Called back and set another one. Missed that one. Went in and appeared before a judge, plead not guilty, he set another date. Missed that date and called for another one. 8 months later went to court and the cop didn't work there anymore, thrown out!!

I missed a court date here in Texas and was charged $100/violation ($300). And then I had to post a $900 bond before I could set another court date. Luckily I had the money and didn't have to pay the $250 the bail bonds people wanted. The don't screw around with tickets in Texas.
