    wheel polishing?

not sure thats the right term for what i need but i bought a set of Fikse profil10's that someone didnt care for properly. the centers are perfect but the lips need some attention. they are not pitted but they have some slight staining or discoloration on the lips. ive hit them with wheel polish of several manufacturers and they look better but if im going to get top dollar for them i need them perfect. does anyone have a suggestion of maybe something a little more aggressive i can use? fikse's dont have a clear coat on them. they are forged aluminum shells. anyone?

On the interiors of our chaff launchers we use aircraft aluminum cleaner/polish. It cleans the scorches burns and some of the marring etc off and they are bright a hell...not sure how it would work on a wheel though but i assume its a similar aluminum type

use steel wool to apply the compound - just like furniture and sandpaper you are basically accomplishing the same task albeit with different materials.

Start with rough stuff for the larger imperfections and work your way to fine steel wool, then to cloth for final polishing.

+1 on the steel wool or lightly sand them then use a power buffer to get best results.

I do that every year to get all the year's gunk off. Works great. Or 2000 grit wet sandpaper.

Break out the 1000 - 2000 grit (non-aluminum oxide) sand paper. Works wonders.

Step by step advise for mirror polishing aluminum from two dozen readers; lots of agreement but a few points of contention

I couldn't find the one I was looking for. There's a few guys that polish bike frames to a seriously chrome like shine. That might help some though.
