Main reason I would never pay that much for an e30 M3.

    I WOULD DRIVE IT.

    EVERY DAMN SKIPPY DAY.

So that would totally fuck the resale value. I would never buy a garage queen, for any reason, cars are meant to be driven, as much as possible.

My dream car is the current Aston DBS, I would never buy one until I had enough money to not care that I'm driving a $250K + car on a daily basis. If you cannot afford to drive a car everyday, you shouldn't be driving it.

Unless its strictly for track use, which a garage queen would never be used for since people would be afraid to crash it and "ruin" their investment.

The saddest thing, is that all these cars are going to go to people who will never drive them the way they should be driven.

      IMHO, a common misconception.
I drive mine almost every day all summer long when I'm not riding my bike... *gasp* even in the rain!
I take it to the track.
I've put 20k on the new engine in 2 years.

(The 50+ E30 M3's that roll through our shop door also points to the thought that more owners use them regularly than not)

When it gets chipped/scratched... repaint it
When the engine is tired.... rebuild it
When I take it to the track... I drive intelligently... not 2Fast 2 Furious style

A well documented, properly repainted/refreshed car is going to bring almost the same premium as an unmolested car. Sure, in 15-20 years the bone stock sub 30k mile example will bring more. However, you've now treated it like art, and it is destined to remain as such.

If I wanted auto art to admire, I'd buy a Ducati 996 and put it in my living room.

Yes there are those who preserve the cars in their garages, and I'm glad that they do... however the vast majority of owners drive & enjoy these cars to their fullest potential.

Can I just say, that sterling silver one is so sexy it hurts. If I was going to respray, I was going to go E36 TiAg, no longer. Sterling for the absolute win.

And back on topic, the american market is limited in having to drive a federalised M3, whereas, the rest of the world is not, so it kinda makes US M3's more valuable to you guys (duh!)
