Ditto. Super cheap, but they work. You may be able to borrow (rent) some from a shop, but I wouldn't know where.

PepBoys "rents" tools for free. Just a deposit. They sell some shitty shocks/struts, so I'd bet they would have it available to ya.

Check out autozone. They are the best place to rent from, I've found, because they have the biggest selection. Most of their tools are from Harbor Freight, I believe.

If youre lowering it enough, you dont need a spring compressor. We didnt use one for my 60/50 kit. Otherwise, its probably worth the investment to get one from harbor freight.

True but he will need them to tear the oem springs down from the struts safely. Or do as e30gangsta did... LOL

If you decide to buy one i will split the cost with you. I need to overhaul my suspension soon. So one of these would be handy.

Thats what I hear. We had a compressor on hand, and really didnt need it. We unbolted it from the top mount, and raised the car. It practically fell it, it took a pretty light pry to get it out. It really was pretty straight foward. The rears were a little tigther though..

Sears sells a decent set as well. If you are lowering it though, you wont NEED them, especially on install.

To take down stock units, just lay the strut down with the strut bearing on the soles of your shoes, with the tube and spring away from you. Use an impact gun to take the nut off the shock, and the items will shoot out a few feet, so point it away from anything nice or breakable. I have had one shoot out close to 20 ft. and old blanket can keep them semi contained.

You can also gangsta the front springs off by unbolting the top strut bolt and then lifting up the car and then removing the strut body from the car. I would not recommend it but it worled for me in a pinch.

Autozone rented me 2 sets at the same time last time we did springs. Saved a ton of time having a set on the old springs and a set on the new ones for reassembly.

I just pointed it at a wall when I took mine out since I put IE3's on after. Was kinda fun but be sure its at a thick wall, had a friend shoot the upper nut through some thin sheetrock.
