    whats an e worth

A friend has asked me to help sell his 1987 325. not badged as an e but real oem says it is one. it is cleaner than any e30 i have ever seen (i own 2) 118k, 5sp, black houndstooth interior, no cracks, ZERO RUST. Garaged, never driven in winter. I'm not shitting when i say it is pristine, but he has no idea what he's got or what its worth. thoughts. I dont know anything about e's ............

IF you know its pristine, for a fact.. Id say even $4k may be within reason. Its not going to be a world beater. But the fuel economy is nice...

I tend to agree on the $3-4k figure, IF it truly is as you say. It is becoming harder and harder to find straight, low mileage rust free E30 chassis these days. The way that I personally see it, is that as long as you have a good, straight E30 chassis, you can make it into whatever you want. That might not make sense to some, but to me it was the reason why I bought a '87 325 for $500-it may not be pretty, but the chassis was very good so it is a great base to build from.

-It makes sense to me. Motor/trans/diff/brakes/suspn/interior are so easily swaped on e30s, you really can make what you want

Wow, you guys really think a clean E is worth that much? I would have said 2k tops. In great shape an 87 would blue book for 1500 about a year ago. But as a car dealer once told me, "there is an ass for every seat" so if he can find the right buyer who just wants a clean BMW fuel economy he could get closer to what they are saying.

If you judge an E30's based by KBB, then nobody here has one worth more than $2500. KBB may be good for newer cars, but it holds zero value for these cars.

-"price" and "value" are not to be confused. Yes, they are only "worth" 1500-2000, but if it is indeed super clean and well maintained the it can easily fetch twice that.

$2500 to $3000, more if the paint is in good condition.

That's what I -should- have paid for mine, but the PO gave me an awesome deal :)

Exactly. We all know that, say, a 88 325 will fetch more than an 87 325e, possably as much as an 88 325i because of the s-eta motor and easy bumper swapability. But KBB doesn't take the desire of a handful of bimmer-heads into consideration

I've seen some very clean i cars going for $3500.00. I'd say the car is worth around $2500.00 max. You can't give away e motors.

Now if it was an 1988 325es seta with leather and had 70k then I can see $7000 and euro bumpers some sort of oem body kit, bolt on 2.7i $10000+ of course its cherry for this price. Now every bit of visual abuse brings the price down.
