Did you really need the opinions of people who's only contact with these cars has been through magazines and Gran Tourisimo 3?
-Charlie
i dont know really. im getting the STi anyway, most likely by friday i will have it, but i just wanted to make sure i was making the right choice. and from the resons i ahve been given to buy the evo, i know ill be happier in the STi. i plan on keeping it mainly all stock (factory warranty) plus i was a comfy DD with some balls, the evo is just as expensive, yet not as well equiped as the STi. plus everyone is saying how the evo is raw like the m3, well, i have an m3, i dont want a raw car for everyday driving.

thanks guys :)
You have driven the STi, right? It's plenty raw, dare I say almost more-so than a stock e30 m3.
supposed to be better on dirt, where it's meant to be
Would you buy a Jeep TJ as your family SUV because it kicks ass in 4' deep rivers? Just curious.
What the hell are you talking about? Jeeps?
My point was that the STi and Evo are the closet things to rally cars that you can buy for the street. I picked the STi because it is supposedly better than the Evo on dirt - where rally cars are supposed to be. I personally don't care if the Evo handles slightly better and it's insane boost levels are more fun on dry roads. If I were choosing between these two cars, it would come down to which one is better at what they're designed for: rally driving. I think it would be awesome to have a daily driver capable of performing well on roads, as well as dirt rally courses and winter ice racing for fun on the weekends.

You missed my analogy completely.
Buying a STi for its dirt road capability when it's planned use is a daily driver is as retarded as buying a Wrangler with a 4" lift kit for the same purpose. It's good at something he'll never need it to be good at.
And I think driving a DD hard on gravel and dirt roads is also a hilarious thought. The point of the thing is to have some fun while keeping the miles off his track/fun car, why create another maintenance/repair needing monster in the process.

i still plan on abusing and tracking the sti, but i doubt, infact i seriously doubt im gonna go off road with it, but hell, just becuase they rally it, doesnt mean shit, thats a completely diffrent car from the stock sti.
Another point I didn't feel like getting into. The stock STi does NOT have the ground clearance, suspension travel, etc. for rock pounding. It's a pavement monster.
I had a 04 STI and I walked plenty of stock evo's from all speeds. I do like the way the evo's look, and the RS might be a better car but I still could not buy a mitsubishi. I would say STI. I had one and loved it; they are great for scaring the hell out of your friends.
I try to average 3 months or less with all cars. Lets just say I had 3 M3's, a Z06, and the STI in one year, and plenty of e30's, e28's etc thrown in. The STi was my favorite though. I just sold it because I bought a new house, otherwise I was planning on keeping it.
