As long as you do not try to sell it you should be fine.

How much are you going to be asking for them approx ? ?

We are autocrossing the car and I have to admit <as cheesy as it sounds.... I wanted more noise>
The factory filters the air better than the aftermarket cone filters do, so it will get dirty sooner but still do its job.

Hey, I never said that I drilled any holes...that's just what he did and I have seen someone else do it also. Using a drill or using a dremel, it doesn't matter as long as it makes a few holes, right?

So if I badge them "D DIMAN" I should be good to go? Maybe supply a free Terrycloth Bathrobe along with it?

I don't get it? The quarter panel is no where near the intake... now the FENDER, that is close by.

The debate could go on and on, about power this or that....A couple HP is fuzz on most if not all dyno's. What is verifyable is to monitor temps inside the air box with the factory OBC temp sensor....Just move it there. Compare that to ambient temps, and then build a CAI, and do the same......Done.....

I'll trade someone my swiss cheese box for their un-swiss cheesed one for shipping both ways. :)

I don't hear mine anymore...my exhaust makes WAY MORE noise than that intake hole thing ever could. But, on my old eta with quiet exhaust, it sounded cool!

You know that little pipe that runs from the front of the stock airbox into the headlight backplate? The inner diameter of the smallest point is the most restrictive part of the intake. Either tjts or jpod999 dod some research on this awhile ago, but I can't remember which one. Anyway, I just took a piece of 3.5" diameter air ducting and stuck it in the holes. Fits perfectly, no leaks, and sounds cool. The airbox temps dropped roughly 30 degrees with the air sensor test. This may be M42 specific, I don't really know.

I won't even get into the fact that most of these cone filters let in larger particles of dirt into your engine than the factory filter, possibly causing more engine wear...

If you want the intake sound that a cone filter can give you, just drill some large holes in the bottom of the factory airbox. Friend of mine did this to my previous 325is after he bought it from me, and I will admit it sounded mean as hell.
This is all completly. True but since I have so many damn spare parts I decided to cut the whole cap off and left about an inch.
