    Wtf? Progressive?

    This is odd as hell....

I have 2 cars on my insurance, the m3 and my jetta. Periodically I take the m3 off (like when its in storage or being worked on for a while) to save some money.

About a week ago I asked my agent to take it off again because my 6 month renewal is coming up and I just want to pay for the jetta. I had previously gotten a bill for $755 for the two cars.

Well I go online the day before to pay (this is on tuesday) and its still $755. So I call today to confirm the m3 is off, and it wasn't. So I ask the guy to take it off and issue me a refund for the 6 months.

$5, yes $5 is all I get back.

I still don't quite understand this, but I asked him a lot of questions, and what it boils down to is it costs me $5 to insure my m3 for 6 months on top of my jettas bill.

I don't know if thats really awesome, or really stupid. I'm going to call my agent right now because I still don't quite believe it.

It makes sense. You're one person, you can't drive both cars at the same time.

I think if you tried taking off the Jetta and leaving the M3, your payment will be a lot more than just $5.

I called my agent, and progressive has some fucked up way of doing this. Its something like they take 20% off the insurance of your first car for your second, then all the tickets get put on your first car, and something something.... I have really no fucking idea whats going on but he said thats right. He said he has clients that it will cost them MORE money to insure 1 car instead of 2.

I mean for $5 wtf is the point of taking the m3 off in the first place? Might as well just leave it on.

I think its time to go shopping for a new company now that I'm off high risk.

You won't be able to figure out how they calculate their rates. Period.

Find the cheapest, go with it.

How many times can I share my disaste for insurance companies like geico and progressive? these guys suck - they cost a fortune because they spend so much money on ads and other bullshit. they alway send me crap that says "you can save $500 on your insurance!!!?!?!!". too bad I don't spend that in a year..

State Farm has been great to my parents and I. Had no issues w/ me having 2 cars, got my c10 just on insurance to have it stored so its only $7 and then they've been great to me with the insurance on the e30. Altho still am on high risk but have no tickets or accidents.

I've had progressive for one year and ditched them when the renewal came and I have a clean record. They suck.

My insurance was actually cheaper when I had 2 cars. No idea why, but while I had e30 and a ford ranger, my insurance was $7 per month cheaper. Now I have 2 e30's, and my insurance once again is $7 cheaper.

                  EDIT: also with progressive

Multi car discount. Most insurance companies do it.

That being said, 755 bucks to insure a jetta? Please tell me that includes comprehensive.

I dropped progressive a few years ago when I got my first bike. They wanted like 8K a year just for the bike(worth 2k)LOL.

anyways right now I have my 07 cbr1000rr, 07 350z, 05 Pathfinder, and 90 325is--- all full coverage double the liability minumum coverage and I only pay 2k a year with State Farm.
                      Im 29/single/ no accidents/tickets in 8 yrs. 760+ Fico

Credit is a biggie with insurance companies besides driving record.

You are obviously very wise in the ways of insurance.

                          Call State Farm.

I park my car for the winter, every time I cancel my policy on my e30 the insurance company says I have to take my license plate to the state police since the car is no longer insured. I tell them if the police have nothing better to do they can come and get them. Once I intentionally let my insurance "expire" since I parked the car for the winter, I received a bill and called the adjuster. They said letting the insurance expire is not the same thing as cancelling the policy, it's weird that my insurance will "end" on a certain day if I don't pay, but I have to call them to quit getting the bills. I hate insurance companies....
