Very impressive. $140k is a lot of coin, but we won't even get it so don't fret. I couldn't phathom having a GM product over one of these, no offense Heeter, but Darrell and Darrell can keep their spiffed-up Vette.

if you continue to try and rationalize the hp vs dollar, luxury vs items removed (radio,ac etc) then you just dont get it. ask any e30m3 owner what theyve spent vs what they COULD have bought. and then ask them what its like actually DRIVING the car. there is no value that can be placed on that feeling. hell mines not even running yet and im already excited to experience it.

edit: if Mariano has $30k+ into his car, E30Groupie has $44k+ into his standard e30 along with what Criv has in his car. imagine what else they could have got with that $$? then ask why didnt they buy that as opposed to what they have now?
The reason people buy e30m3s is because it was a fantastic car in its era, and they want to experience the nostalgia that everyone raves about. Sure it can be a blast to drive, but the actual performance numbers pale in comparison to newer cars that aren't even necessarily "sports" cars.

If you want a superior machine the obvious choice is to get something newer, instead of getting a relic that has a lot of history. Not saying anything is wrong with buying that "relic," but why bash people who want a better performer for less money?

The new CSL has no rich racing history or any nostalgia to brag about, so that's why some of us are looking at this purely from a spec angle. The facts are there are cars with better overall performance(not just more hp) for less money, that you can listen to your music to in, and not have to sweat your balls off. Maybe some people don't just don't get that value is worth more than "soul" sometimes.

Ur right. It's a BMW after all. I'd pay the dealer an extra 500k over MSRP in a heartbeat.

American cars suck...ford what is that? Found On Road Dead? losers

That made no freaking sense. 100% correct, 100% useless.

People have plenty of reason to by e30 m3. I have no nostalgia, as I was 2, when that car rolled out of M-division. Original m3 has a special meaning to a whole lot of people, and that meaning can be anything.

CSL has lots of history, beginning with 3.0CSL, and that's one reason BMW continues the tradition. And CSL has always been more expensive than m3 model, but the tag never doubled before. If BMW wants to build exotics, they should release NAZCA or the new M1 sooner.

Not to mention they planned to release a 1-series to compete with GTI, ended up being in a class of their own. BMW has been losing their minds, and that's just their way of showing it.

Lucky 100 people who are on that list, wish I had their resources, I'd buy that crappy Alfa Romeo CC and stare at it.

You sound like an idiot. Yeah, I said it. Nothing can come close to the almighty BMW, right?

When M1 comes out, no matter how much it costs it will be special, and all of us here will drool and dream about it. The CSL is not a super-car, not an exotic, and for BMW to ask nearly double for it, is nucking futs.

So does that mean you feel the same about the lamborghini reventon? It costs nearly SEVEN times as much as the regular Murcielago, yet only makes TEN more horse power.

But that car just doesn't add up to the tag. Not looks, not performance, not equipment, nothing about it is 140k special. And Corvette comes in, because it's a domestic, with not much special, but the price tag is justifiable. we could pick Viper.
A Viper? you STILL wouldn't be in the same vehicle size, class, or purpose. Chevy and Dodge are not considered luxury or premium brands.

BMW did not design the car for purists, they designed it as a marketing tool and a halo car for the 3 series range and to bolster their own corporate image.

Chevy and Dodge did the same, but niether has the brand image nor reputation or stigma to charge anywhere near 140k for thier cars. Trust me, if they could charge that much for a vette or viper they would.

therefore the Vette or Viper are not designed to exude the same character as the CSL, or a porsche 911, or Aston Martin V8 Vantage etc, etc.

Thus why I would never compare the two, especially in price. its like comparing an SRT-4 to a B4 chassis Biturbo Audi S4, sure they have 4 doors, where both range topping models, and where great performers in their own right, but wher built by to different types of companies for two different types of customers looking for two different types of cars.

Any way. I rarely trust news sites, they rarely ever get ANYTHING right, I found two more sites that estimate the price at $105,000 to $115,000.

So if the Reventon had seven times the power, roughly 4550hp, that would justify the cost for you? At some point enough power is enough, and that point is your driving skill.

The GTR has the same 0-60 time as the Ferrari Enzo at a seventh of the price, but I'd take the Enzo in a heartbeat if I had the cash.

Exactly my point. So, at this level of vehicle, comparisons on power, cost and looks are pointless.

Fuck that M3. The Benz AMG CLK63 BLACK SERIES is the kind of car BMW should be making. Full CF aero, diffuser, huge fender flares, way more ballsy than any current BMW.

So it looks like its 70k counterpart minus accents. It has 50HP extra for which you're trading extra 40-70K. To add the insult to injury, your sunroof is a sealed fiber, your lack of stereo has a plastic plate over it. If it's anything like last car, who knows where all the cardboard is.

So nothing is important because it's a BMW.

It's a limited production car. They're making 100 of them, that's why it's 140k. A couple of sheiks will own them, as will Jay Leno, a couple of fly by night rappers, and your dentist. Don't sweat it.
