I think this is pretty damn neat! You create your own piece, have it made and shipped to you. Also get feedback on whether your design is possible. This would be awesome for hard to find parts...even those hard to find brackets for early spoilers.

Huh, that's a really cool idea. I wish I had thought of that.
I'll be doing something similar soon, but I'd just have someone either send me technical drawings or have them give me dimensions and I'd make the drawings, have them look over the drawings and then make and send.

its a good idea, but not really feasibly in north america for a small shop. setup time, i.e. centering the piece, calibrating each tool, ensuring one has each specific tool/bit, and such are fairly costly in time endeavors so unless this costs a substantial amount (which i have no idea, as i didn't get a quote) then this has to be offshore. great idea non the less.
yes, I've worked at a CNC machine shop, so yes, I do know.
by the looks of it they offer many many services, so it definitely looks off shore... so who knows about quality.Comment

This has been around for quite a while - but unless you're doing at least 50 or so peices, or they are very simple, it's going to be cheaper to go to a local shop. still a neat service, I just haven't yet found a use for it yet.Comment
