    Fuel Injectors

    Hey guys i want to replace my fuel injectors i think they are their last leg. I was looking up on bav and pelican and they were a little pricey. So i decided to take a look on ebay see what i could find. I saw a lot of fuel injectors that "fit" the e30. they were talking about better fuel economy and all that cool stuff. I was wondering if you guys thought i would be digging myself a grave if i went and bought ebay injectors?

    Also i dont understand the whats its talking about like 9lb and such injectors can i get any help on that aswell?

    I'm sure there is a topic somewhere in the tech forums about this, just search around a bit. If it were me, I'd just have the injectors rebuilt.

      +1 some company online rebuilds and balances them for $12/ea. Sorry I have no idea what the name is...

          Before you go and waste money on injectors that are also quite possibly on their "last leg," CALL one, if not BOTH of these companies and ask what they think about injectors on the last leg. If anything, they just need a cleansing and Cruzin has done a great job for me in the past.



          you really dont need to be upgrading injectors unless you have done some work to your intake and exhaust.
          If its a b25 you drive, then you have 17lb injectors. (correct me if i'm wrong) If you've done something like an M30 AFM with cone filter and shorty headers, you would benefit from 19lb'ers. Higher(newer style) pintle versions can be found in the junk yard out of many fords.

          there's some data around here with bosch injector listings and where to get them. google is also some help.

            B25s came with 14.5lb injectors. FYI.

                Rebuild or OEM, i'd avoid ebay fuel injectors for obvious reasons.

                  Supposedly, E30 14.5lb fuel injectors are a known bottle neck from the factory. Upgrade to M50 17.5lb fuel injectors for a stock motor.

                  I bought a set for $20 and just shipped mine off to cruizin today.

                    So you're saying BMW purposely put 14.5's and its weaker and what should be in there is 17.5's. In addition, I could do this without upgrading ECU and it'd run just as well after it "relearns"?

                    Does anyone know why BMW's use standard measurement over metric? Or is it just the boards? I mean even spring rates are measured in lbs and that always made me wonder.

                      Yup, the stock injectors aren't adequate for the higher RPM range.

                        So what would be improved? Slight increase in torque? maybe hp?

                        Or is it just throttle response and a better overall running engine?

                          I got a set of 17.5's from someone off of bimmerforums for 20 plus shipping. Just ask around, somone always has an extra set.

                            The very minimum would probably be just better throttle response and overall running engine. Depending on the condition of your old injectors there might be an increase of MPG (or at least it would stay the same, which is good considering the increased fuel consumption). I'm not sure if HP/TQ would change, someone else could chime in there.

                              I doubt it would make much difference in HP, the range where the 14.5's run out of steam (6000rpm) is way past where the stock cam makes power anyway. I agree that M50 injectors are the biggest I'd run on a stock motor with the factory ECU though - of course with engine management you can run pretty much anything you want.
