Oil Service Light Reset?

How do I reset my oil service light after an oil change?

I searched and couldn't find it, but I'm guessing this has been asked before.

put a wire in #7 & #19 of the service connector, turn the key to aux for a few seconds until the indicator lights all light up turn the ignition off (longer resets the full service interval)

If that sounds too complicated to you... and the oil service/inspection light really bugs you, you could always invest in something like this:

I found that at www.bimmerzone.com (shop around, there are some variations of this tool)
Unless you feel you'd get a lot of use out of it, it's kind of a waste of money though.

EDIT: I should add.. there's still no guarantee that a tool like that will actually make your lights go off and stay off. I find them to be very finicky.

It doesn't sound complicated, I just have never done it before since today was the first tim eI've change the oil in my car.

So google it. There have been tons of write-ups about how to reset by jumpering those pins.
Since my dad has various reset tools, I myself have never used that method, sorry I can't be of more help.

Derek, TISK TISK i did this when i replaced my engine and i would have been more then happy to do it for ya if you really wanted me to i could have had my father rig it up and do it properly if you wanted. to make you feel better.

Hmm I jus did mine last week........

I grounded my test light, and stuck it in pin #7, turned the key, booom all the lights went green. Thats what my uncle told me to do, he works at bmw, he's tool for resetting cars is a 4 ft speaker wire.

He never mentioned anything about pin #19, or is that just a ground.
